Last Dublin Event Guide …with mainly online events?

Cork Choral Festival, Markets, Bealtaine Festival

Hi all!

Woohoooo! HUGE news this week!!! After virtually no movement at all in the last four months, now things are seemingly moving super fast in the next few weeks.

In short, on 10 May we are allowed to travel everywhere in Ireland again, museums and galleries will re-open, hairdressers will re-open,

click and collect services in shops will be back. On 17 May all shops will open again. On 02 June pubs and restaurants will be allowed to serve food and drink outdoors and In July or August we might even be able to travel internationally again.

This is a SUPER fast return to normality and it is all based on the expectation that the vaccinations will happen as planned and that they will provide at least the medium-term protection that is currently expected.

So with museums, galleries and cultural events being back from 10 May and with pubs being back open outdoors about 4 weeks later, this means that we will really really soon have cultural events in REAL life again!! Can you believe it!? That’s sooo good news!

I can’t wait until the majority of events in this “Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)” are REAL Life events again. :-) Stay with me here and you will see it happening soooooon!

It is finally time to celebrate and to be optimistic about our “normal” lives to return and you can start making plans again.

And as I mentioned last week, you do not have to wait until 10 May for some of the outdoor markets to return! Some are back already. The reporting about re-openings is a little sketchy still and therefore I might miss some, but with your help (please let me know if you know of any markets being open if I forgot to list them) we will soon have a comprehensive list again.

With real life events within our grasp, help me to help you to find out about all interesting free events here in the Dublin Event Guide week after week! If you like knowing about all free events, you NEED the Dublin Event Guide! ;-)

And to ensure that it all can continue and that the bills will be paid, the Dublin Event Guide needs your donations! If the bills are not paid, there can’t be a Dublin Event Guide. Any amount will help, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that. Where else can you get so much value for so little money?

Use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. In case it doesn’t work for you, the “old” links are still below for another little while. And maybe you can even sign up for a yearly subscription!? Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and would be great to have! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

If the new page above doesn’t work, please donate here via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you just use @joergbrb

And you can even buy one or two or even three virtual coffees (or Hot Chocolates!) for the Dublin Event Guide on the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

There is also another way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?

Thank you!!

What’s on and free next week….

Monday 03 May

 Monday is Bank Holiday and it is surprisingly an event-free day! :-O I searched everywhere and could not find a single event for that day. Bank Holidays are often not the busiest days, but in normal times there is always still SOMETHING to do. Not this time!

The current weather forecast is for heavy rain, so it might be another (of oh so many) Netflix days. Enjoy the day off anyway!

And there is more…

+++ Cork Choral Festival
The Cork International Choral Festival is taking place at the moment. Because it is in Cork, I didn’t even realise. That it had started on Thursday already. But this weekend on Saturday and Sunday are many more events and most of them are free. The “good” thing about the Covid Times is that we can easily “travel” to festivals that are further away! I will miss some of it when real life events are back. But I don’t think I will miss it enough to prefer being locked in for any longer. ;-)

The list of events “in” Cork is here: pheedloop.com/corkchoral2021/site/schedule/

+++ Bealtaine Festival
Every year in May the Bealtaine Festival takes place. It is organised by Age Action Ireland, which already indicates who it is for: The Bealtaine Festival “celebrates the arts and creativity as we age”. Whatever that exactly means! I remember that Bealtaine was once for Seniors. But who wants to be called Seniors? So then the age range was pushed out a little and it was targeting people from Age 55. This year it is even going from 50-100. But that is a HUGE range and it will make it more and more difficult to target the people that really need something like Bealtaine, the ones that OTHERWISE will experience a sort of Covid Lockdown for the rest of their lives because they have no friends, hobbies and other interaction.
I think the Bealtaine Festival is a great concept  and there are LOTS of free events, but maybe the target group should be tightened a bit more again? bealtaine.ie/events_2021/

+++ LEARN A NEW SKILL WITH ONLINE COURSES
Is there ever a wrong time for learning a new skill or enhancing what you are already interested in? Maybe it is a language or an instrument or some technical skills? Or NLP or some Business related “soft skills”? Check out Udemy via the link below, they have thousands of courses and there is good chance that what you are looking for is available. Nearly all the courses are REALLY affordable!
The lowest cost for courses this month will be around 12.99. Check out the website at shor.by/GqCk And if you buy through that link, you also help the Dublin Event Guide! :-)

+++ READ MORE BOOKS
For physical books and e-books I recommend Book Depository because they are usually cheaper than others and they always include free delivery in their price AND by buying books from Book Depository you will definitely help the Dublin Event Guide and it doesn’t cost you a cent. Buy your books here shor.by/BookDepository  .

And this is it for another week! Have a good weekend and new week.

Take care,

–Joerg (dublineventguide@gmail.com)
