Dublin Event Guide 777: Culture Night was great! – Richmond Barracks Harvest Fair, Buzzfest, The Capel Street Event, Dublin Festival of History, Positive Ageing Week

Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)

Culture Night was great!

Richmond Barracks Harvest Fair, Buzzfest, The Capel Street Event, Dublin Festival of History, Positive Ageing Week

Hi!

How was your Culture Night? Did you venture out and enjoy the rich variety of cultural events and venues Dublin has to offer? Or did you stay at home?

I was out! I walked 10km from Merrion Square via the National Gallery, Alliance Francaise, RCPI, National Library, National Museum, Mansion House, Grafton Street, Trinity College, Temple Bar, Meeting House Square, Christ Church, St. Patrick’s Cathedral back to Merrion Square. There was music, tours, viewings, exhibitions and a lot more. There were loads of people on the streets and as always it was a very happy and fun atmosphere in Dublin.

Culture Night is such a brilliant event and if you didn’t make it OR if you enjoyed it, put it already in your calendar for next year. It will probably take place on 22 Sept 2023!

The (slight) downside of Culture Night is that I am enjoying myself too much there! ;-) As a consequence I am starting the Dublin Event Guide MUCH later than usually and that means that you will probably get it much later than you would like to get it! I apologise for it, but I hope you understand.

As every week, this Dublin Event Guide brings you a long long list of free cultural events in Dublin. Some you might be interested in, others might leave you cold. I always suggest that you do the things that you love, but ALSO try ONE thing that you normally would not do! Challenge yourself and stretch your horizon every now and then, you could discover something amazing. A new interest maybe!? Something that is more exciting than you ever expected it to be!? Try it! ;-)

Donations in September:
EUR 267

(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.)

If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.

The counter here shows the current donation status. By the end of the month EUR 200 will be subtracted to pay the bills. If more money has been donated, the rest will be carried forward. If donations have stopped below the EUR 200, the missing amount will be carried over.

The great people that donated last week were Miriam, Luana, Laura! Thank you so much! Your donation will keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and will motivate me to continue week after week. I appreciate you and your support!

With the above counter you know at all times where we stand and when donating is needed. Donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and all donors will also get some additional bonuses. The first of those bonuses is described above.

Here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 3. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.

To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb or now also revolut.me/joergbrb
(If possible, please send your full name and e-mail address as a message with the payment via PayPal or Revolut so that I can tell you about bonuses for donors when available.)

To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?

Thank you!!

And there is more…

+++ The Capel Street Event
Éadaoin Fitzmaurice, journalist and social media person from Arklow has declared Capel Street to the “coolest street” in Dublin and the Time Out Magazin put it on Rank 22 out of 33 in their list. You might whole-heartedly agree or very much disagree with this declaration by a single journalist, but Dublin City is chuffed like mad and uses it heavily as a confirmation that the sort-of-pedestrianisation (cyclists are still allowed to race down the street and e-scooter users do it illegally) was the right thing to do.
This Sunday, Dublin City is running “The Capel Street Event”, a family-friendly celebration of this “coolest street” tag, awarded by one journalist. (You might sense that I am not 100% convinced that the tag is justified. ;-) )
There will be on-street entertainment and free family fun with Face Painters, an 80s/90s Disco, Stilt Walkers, Street Entertainers and games from 13:00-17:00. www.facebook.com/DublinCityCouncil/photos/1016093506942462

+++ LOW PRICED BOOKS (WITH FREE DELIVERY)
Book Depository is the place where you can buy low priced books, usually for better prices than on Amazon. And Book Depository always delivers for free. By buying books from Book Depository you will also help the Dublin Event Guide for no additional cost to you, so two good reasons in one. Use this link: shor.by/BookDepository

+++ LOTS of Trinity College Talks
Trinity College is offering really interesting talks and LOTS of them. There are so many that I couldn’t include them all, so please check out www.tcd.ie/news_events/events/ and if you check before Monday, then click on “NEXT WEEK” towards the top to see all the events that take place next week.

+++ Sculpture in Context – National Botanic Garden
For the 36th time the yearly “Sculpture in Context” exhibition will be in the National Botanic Gardens. 120 artists are showing their work and the bigger pieces are wonderfully integrated in the park. The sculptures will be in the park from 01 Sept to 07 Oct (inclusive). And because admission to the Botanic Gardens is free anyway, visiting this exhibition is free too. sculptureincontext.ie

+++ LEARN A NEW SKILL WITH ONLINE COURSES
Is there ever a wrong time for learning a new skill or enhancing what you are already interested in? Maybe it is a language or an instrument or some technical skills? Or somethign cmpletely different? Nearly every subject is there! Check out Udemy via the link below, they have thousands of courses and there is good chance that what you are looking for is available. Nearly all the courses are REALLY affordable!
The lowest price most of the time is EUR 12.99. Sometimes it even goes doen further to EUR 9.99 and when that happens (about once or twice a year), I will tell you. But even 12.99 is definitely a good price for what you get!

Check out the website at www.getthislink.com/Udemy22 And if you buy through that link, you also help the Dublin Event Guide! :-)

And this is it for another week! Have a great weekend and good new week.

Take care,

–Joerg (dublineventguide@gmail.com)
