Dublin Event Guide 797: Small things can be great! Busy week, but no BIG headline events.

February 11th, 2023

Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)

Small things can be great!

Busy week, but no BIG headline events.

Hey, how are you?

Good news (I hope!!!): It is still me behind the wheel here, writing the weekly Dublin Event Guide for you. The robots or Artificial Intelligence devices have not yet taken over.

I know a few of you got a little concerned after the AI written Dublin Event Guide intro that I posted last week was shockingly good. But I will fight back the bots for another while. ;-)

Did you see that this is the 797th edition of the Dublin Event Guide? I know, that might not mean that much to you, but for me it is 797 weeks of spending HOURS on searching for events and putting them into this list. 797 weeks amounts to nearly 16 years (There was a little break a few years ago when I had decided to stop this whole project but then continued.)

With the 800th edition coming up so soon, I need your help. What do you suggest I should do to celebrate? Organise an event for you all? Just jump three times up and down? Get drunk on Hot Chocolate? Go our for dinner with friends?

I will consider ALL suggestions and am hoping for many! And I will tell you next week what was suggested. Maybe I will decide or maybe I will let you decide what I should do. We’ll see how challenging or “daring” your suggestions are. ;-)

This week there are lots of events happening in Dublin, but there are no really big events. At first this is a little disappointing, but keep in mind that lots of small rain drops also manage to get you soaking wet. LOL I am kidding! :-)

What I really want to express is that many small events can still amount to a great experience in our busy and buzzing Dublin. And we know that the headline events will be back soon again.

Donations in February:
EUR 238

(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.)

If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.

The counter here shows the current donation status. By the end of the month EUR 200 will be subtracted to pay the bills. If more money has been donated, the rest will be carried forward. If donations have stopped below the EUR 200, the missing amount will be carried over.

The great people that donated last week were Helen, Eloise, Roisin, Alan, Jenny, Yasmin. Thank you sooooo much! :-) Your donation will keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and will motivate me to continue week after week.I appreciate you and your support!

With the above counter you know at all times where we stand and when donating is needed. Donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and all donors will also get some additional bonuses.

Here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 3. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.

To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb or now also revolut.me/joergbrb
(If possible, please send your full name and e-mail address as a message with the payment via PayPal or Revolut so that I can tell you about bonuses for donors when available.)

To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?

Thank you!!

+++ Discover Dublin Docklands App
Dublin City has a new app that allows us to discover iconic Dublin landmarks such as the famine statues, the CHQ building and more.
The app is available to download for free via doorsintodocklands.com/
After you got the app, you can point your phone at the landmarks and this will prompt the related images, videos and stories to pop up.
The app uses Augmented Reality (AR), a mix of 3D graphics, animation and audio, to immerse users in the story of the city.
Several colourful characters from history will also appear in AR to tell their tales. These include Captain Bligh who surveyed Dublin Bay in the 1800s and Maggie Doyle, who was a docker’s daughter.

And this is it for another week! Have a great weekend and good new week.

Take care,
