Dublin Event Guide 766: I have something for you: Flea Market in Workman’s Club, Funtropolis Family Fun, Fundrum Festival, Bastille Day Festival

July 9th, 2022

Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)

I have something for you!

Flea Market in Workman’s Club, Funtropolis Family Fun, Fundrum Festival, Bastille Day Festival

Good Morning!

If I could, I would mention your name here. I would say “Good Morning, Stephen!” or “Good morning, Mary!”, but when I started the Dublin Event Guide, I had no experience with newsletters and with e-mail sending services, so I never asked for the first name of people.

Only later I learned how to do things better. It is amazing how much you learn over time and how we would do things differently if we could turn the time back.

Asking for a name is a tiny thing, but there are much bigger routes in life that we sometimes don’t take. Did that happen in an area of your life? In a job? Or maybe a wrong career choice? Or maybe even a partner choice? We all are doing the best we can, but in hindsight we sometimes see that we could have done better.

I was talking to a friend recently about some choices that I made, that didn’t turn out as planned and she had the same experience. And thinking about it a bit, she said “If only someone had helped me seeing the MANY options I had.”

The Dublin Event Guide is about giving options about events in the next seven days, but you might know that I am also trained as a Life/Success Coach and as a Business Coach. And in my role as a coach I explore life options with my clients.

So, my friend suggested a monthly e-mail that would be hugely informative and help looking at the options we have, give some ideas and suggestions about these life decisions and be very inspiring and motivational. I think that is a great idea. Are you interested? It will be completely free and sent from my “Inspiring Leadership Academy”. If you want to get great ideas and suggestions and Inspiring News, sign up here www.getthislink.com/InspiringNews (it will just take 20 seconds!)

Donations in July:
EUR 230

(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.)

If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.

The counter here shows the current donation status. By the end of the month EUR 200 will be subtracted to pay the bills. If more money has been donated, the rest will be carried forward. If donations have stopped below the EUR 200, the missing amount will be carried over.

Last week nobody donated. That’s not really a problem regarding the bills, there is a good bit of money in the hat, as you can see above. The only thing is that with the SMALL amount of feedback I get directly and on Facebook, donations are the only little bit of confirmation that I am doing the right thing. And if there are no donations…..

With the above counter you know at all times where we stand and when donating is needed. Donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and all donors will also get some additional bonuses. The first of those bonuses is described above.

Here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 3. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.

To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb or now also revolut.me/joergbrb
(If possible, please send your full name and e-mail address as a message with the payment via PayPal or Revolut so that I can tell you about bonuses for donors when available.)

To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?

Thank you!!

And there is more…

+++ Funtropolis – Summer Festival in Merrion Square
Once upon a time (yes, it feels THAT long ago) there was the amazing “Street Performance World Championship” one of the best festivals in Dublin. It took place in Merrion Square and was a competition of Street Performers. An absolutely outstanding event that attracted huge crowds who enjoyed brilliant street performances.
A few years ago then the air had gone out of the competition element of the event and it was renamed to “City Spectacular”. Street Performance was still the main element of the event, but it seemingly somehow had lost a bit of its edge and there were less people in Merrion Square than before.
Then this annoying virus thing happened and since then we haven’t heard from the people behind the City Spectacular. 2020 and 2021 there was nothing and this year there was not even an update. Will it be back in 2023 or is it gone? Who knows! But it will definitely not happen this year and that leaves a HUGE gap in the event calendar.

Luckily a new event was created and will take place this weekend. It is called “Funtropolis”, is commissioned by Dublin City, and will take place on Sunday 10 July from 12:00-18:00 in Merrion Square and again on Sunday 21 August from 12:00-18:00, that time in Mountjoy Square.

The event will bring live performances, street theatre, science shows, immersive storytelling, food and drink and will try to replace the City Spectacular.
At Merrion Square, Storytelling will happen in the Story Yurt where a packed programme will provide entertainment for all ages. Families can üarticipate in workshops to decorate structures inspired by their favourite book. And kids and adults will get the chance to sing, dance and chat with their favourite characters from the children’s songbook Polcaphonc.
