Hi all!

I was very very very bold today and then it got worse! I had worked hard all night to get the Dublin Event Guide out before 08:30 but it was not happening. LOTS of events where still missing and there was no way I could send it out. BUT I was booked to play my very first Padel Tennis tournament today. So what to do? In the end I decided that I would go to the tournament. I played two matches which we won (!!) in our Beginners group. Then we went on to the Semi-Final and were beaten badly.
So I quickly rushed back to my computer to continue the work on this Event Guide, but then problems came up and now the Dublin Event Guide as far as Saturday is concerned is a total write off! I do apologise! Hopefully it will be useful for Sunday and the rest of the week.

[quads id=1]

The September bill is still standing at EUR 190 and September is already half over. That is looking serious! :-( Please, if YOU can support the Dublin Event Guide, do so! I am suggesting a very fair EUR 12 for the year, that’s just 23 cent per Dublin Event Guide Edition or just about 2 pints for 52 (!) editions of the Dublin Event Guide! That’s not much if you think about how much value the Dublin Event Guide brings you every week! Higher and lower donations are also appreciated! Every Euro counts!

If you are a great and helpful person, you can help via PayPal here or if you don’t like PayPal too much you can also go to GoFundMe here. THANK YOU!!

And don’t forget that you can also help without spending a cent of your own money, if you buy through the advertisement links that are in the Dublin Event Guide or that are on the Dublin Event Guide Shopping Page at www.DublinEventGuide.com/shop If you want to buy from Groupon or LivingSocial or Amazon or Bookdepository or eBay or Asos or PrettyLittleThing or SportsDirect, just go to that website and click on the relevant link and it will bring you to the right place. The company you buy from will take 5-8% out of their profit (depending on the company) and will reward the Dublin Event Guide for promoting that company. But importantly you don’t pay more! Here are the links: www.dublineventguide.com/shop Thanks for using this page!

++++++++

The Dublin Event Guide needs your continued help in two areas: Your donations help paying the bills. Just 1 Euro per month (12 Euro per year) would be great, more would be even better. Not many subscribers are prepared (or able) to help, so please don’t rely on others! Your money will be used to pay the monthly EUR 240 bill for sending the newsletter using MailChimp, for web hosting and domain names. I am happy to work 35 hours on the Dublin Event Guide every week without making anything from it, but for the bills I need your help.

You can make your donation at www.perfectresults.info/donate.htm using Paypal or CreditCard or send me a mail at dublineventguide@gmail.com if you prefer to pay by bank transfer. Corporate or enterprise sponsors are very welcome too and will get a bundle of benefits as a thank you for their donation, contact me on sponsorship@dublineventguide.com to discuss the details.

And here is the second area where you can help: Without you spreading the word we would have never reached 24,000 subscribers and 75,000 Facebook Likes. Send your friends to www.dublineventguide.com where they can subscribe as well.

+++++++++++

And here is a great opportunity to help the Dublin Event Guide for absolutely no cost to you:

Without putting your hand in your pocket at all you can help the Dublin Event Guide! Just use the ad links in the Dublin News Section and the banner ads in other sections as often as possible when you buy/order goods. If you buy goods immediately (in the same session) after clicking on a link/ad that you find in this publication (for example for Groupon, LivingSocial, Amazon, Book Depository, LastMinute etc), then you help the Dublin Event Guide everytime.
This is how it works: The company you buy from will give a small commission (5-8%) to the Dublin Event Guide as a thanks for pointing you in their direction. This might only be 30 cent a go, but if many of you did it every time you buy something online, then it could make a big dent into the EUR 240 needed. Importantly, you do not pay more, but the merchant accepts a slightly smaller profit. So clicking on these ads is helping everybody! Thanks!

Have an event-full weekend and week,

–Joerg

Feel good slot

The “Feel Good Slot” at this place in the Dublin Event Guide is to share some inspirational, motivational or thought provoking quotes, stories or video clips. You wonder why I added this section to this e-mail magazine? If your week was great, you might not need it, but most of us had some challenging moments in the last week and there could be more in the coming week and this section is for the people that want to overcome the hurdles, achieve more and remember that despite all, life is great!

This week’s Feel Good Slot is less happy clappy and more a reminder that how we react to difficulties with other people or how we react to difficult people is up to us and will make all the difference.

You can’t control other people. You can only control how you repond to them.

Support

This part is important to “keep the show on the road”:

To cover the cost for the Dublin Event Guide I need your help and every week generous and nice Dublin Event Guide readers help with a donation.

Last week Barry M, Jaqueline B, Alice K, Paul R were so great to help with a very much needed donation. Thanks! Every cent counts and without all these contributions the Dublin Event Guide won’t continue.

The cost for sending the weekly newsletter is EUR 240 per month and a donation from you of just EUR 12 per year will ensure that I will be able to pay the bills.
Has the Dublin Event Guide helped you to find events that you otherwise wouldn’t have known about, or have you saved money by finding great free events? Then please go to here and give something back if you can!

I appreciate ANY help: EUR 12 would be great (that’s just 25 cent per week!), but even if it is just the price of 2 pints it will help.

You can donate online by following this link to the PayPal&CreditCard donation page. If you want to transfer your donation directly to my account, just send a mail to dublineventguide@gmail.com and I will send you the details.

Joergs Picks

This section is intended to provide some help in picking and choosing from the huge number of events by sharing with you what I will/might or would do. This is not a “best of…” list and if an event is not listed here, it by no means implies that the event is not interesting. Instead my “picks” are just based on my personal preferences. All events mentioned here are described in detail further down.

This week I will put ALL my focus on Culture Night! It is one of the best events in Ireland. A whole evening of culture and entertainment in a super buzzing Dublin. Don’t miss it!

Competitions

Energy Healing & Spirit Travel

This is not a competition, but a free offer. (Or a competition with ONLY winners. :-) ) Lica B Browne is offering a free “Energy Healing & Spirit Travel” session for all Dublin Free Event Guide readers.

And she wrote this description:

“If your stomach hurts, you take a tablet or visit a doctor. If you feel constantly anxious, you go to a counsellor. Correct? But what about the part of you that’s not physical, who can help heal that? Some research even indicates that physical ailments (dis-ease) start off as energetic. Who can assist then? A competent energy healer like me will. Many of us also suffer on a daily basis, managing physical and emotional pains that can’t be cured with traditional methods. Can energy healing & Spirit Travel really help?! In many cases they can. You’ve already tried the traditional, why not explore something new, like many of my clients: www.meeting-bbrowne.com/testimonial. And you can read more about me and what I do: www.meeting-bbrowne.com/energy-healing. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to heal. T&C & disclaimers apply.

Dublin news

Help the Dublin Event Guide! It won’t cost you a cent!

Do you enjoy free events? Does it help you to find out about all these free events simply in one e-mail magazine or on one website? Does the Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events) deliver all this for you and maybe even more? In that case, you probably also would want it to continue forever, right?

To achieve that some money is needed. Donations are a great help, but not everyone feels they can donate at the moment. So here is the solution: If you could help with a donation without having to pay a cent from your own money wouldn’t that be cool? You can!!

When you buy books online, buy them from Book Depository or from Amazon and use these links to go to the website:

Book Depository
Amazon

And when you buy from Living Social or Groupon use these links:

Groupon
LivingSocial

Or when you buy from eBay or you want to buy holidays or clothes or anything else, check first

www.dublineventguide.com/shop

When you click on the link and then buy, your books/products/holidays etc cost exactly the same as if you went to the website directly. But if you go via the links above, the Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events) will get 5-8% of what you spend as a commission. That’s not a lot, but if you and lots of other people used that link every time, it would amount to a fair amount of crucially important money. Use the links often, actually EVERY time you buy from the relevant site, not just once!

Giving money for free! That’s how easy it is. ;-) THANK YOU!!!

And if you want to donate money directly, then you can do that here: www.perfectresults.info/donation.htm or www.GoFundMe.com/DublinEventGuide

New Dublin City Library at Parnell Square

Dublin will get a new library and the days of the old one in ILAC Centre are numbered. The new location will be on Parnell Square just next to the Hugh Lane Gallery and the final plans have been submitted to An Bord Pleanala. If all goes according to plan, the library will be finished in 2023.

It is a big project, for which 5 (not so nice) Georgian Buildings will get sacrificed. The former Colaiste Mhuire is part of the buildings that will be redeveloped (or replaced). There are some interesting pictures of the new library in the article in TheJounal.ie here. It looks very pretty and impressive, but that also raises a big question: Does a new library have to look pretty? Or should functionality not take priority?

Have a look at the third picture that shows MASSIVE, not I am talking about M A S S I V E concret pilars inside the building and a LOT of empty and unusable space. the few little book shelves. I would have th distribution to be the other way around.

Is it expensive, I hear you asking? How deos 100 mio sound to you? Lot of concrete, you know! ;-) Dublin City says they will have to üay not mor than 45 mio and will magically get the rest from philanthropy.

Food Co-op found new premises

Many of you know the Dublin Food Co-op. Some of you might be customers there, but even more know it because their hall was the venue for the Dublin Flea Market, the World Fusion Sunday Marketa and a whole range of other flea and vintage markets.

The flea and vintage markets already lost their homes after the Food Co-op had some structural damage that was not worth repairing and then the backup location for the other markets closed before the Food Co-op. But since the whole Newmarket Square will be re-developped the Food Co-op also had to move out.

On Saturday they have announced where they will move: The new location is in Kilmainham, just across Kilmainham Jail and next to the Lime Tree Cafee. The new premises is not a multi-usable hall anymore so there is no chance that any other markets would be able to co-use the venue, but at least the Food Co-op can continue doing their thing. The moving date is early November.

Exhibitions

Based on your feedback, I have decided to do the following with the Exhibition section in this newsletter from now on: I will provide you with a link to a near-comprehensive listing of exhibitions provided by www.visualartists.ie . For me to list all exhibitions would only be doubling their good work and would be an inefficient use of my resources. The link is visualartists.ie/whats-on/events-in-leinster-dublin/

On top of that I will every now and then include here a small selection of exhibitions that either are not mentioned in the Visual Artist listing or are note-worthy to be mentioned separately.

Life at the Edges – Science Gallery Exhibition

12:00 – 18:00, Sat 15 Sep

Science Gallery, Pearse Street, TCD, Dublin 2

The current exhibition in the Science Gallery is called “Life at the Edges” and it will run from 22 June until 30 September,

The exhibition is looking at space travel, Mars exploration and it also looks at other hostile or difficult environments like antarctica, volcanoes and living in a floating city.

Some of the most interesting exhibits are:

+ Habitat of a simluated Mars mission
+ Creating souvenirs from Lava
+ Process of creating an iron ring from grass that grew on iron polluted soil
+ Animals that travelled to space
+ A plant growing in Mars atmophere
+ A planet to be built from dead bodies

It is a fascinating exhibition, but take your time to understand the exhibits and think a little more about some of them! It is worth it!

The website below lists all exhibits and provides some explanation so that you can either before or after your visit check further details.

All Science Gallery exhibitions are suitable for ALL ages, even younger children will be able to take part/follow. Some of the exhibits need a bit more of an age-appropriate explanation for younger kids than others, but nearly everything can be simplified for kids.

I strongly suggest to use the help of the amazing mediators, who can explain everything you see, especially if you don’t want to read all the explanations that are next to every exhibit.

The Science Gallery has very visitor friendly opening hours of Tue-Fri 12:00-20:00 and Sat+Sun 12:00-18:00.

Admission is free.

But be aware that opening times and admission charges have changed substantially again. It once was free, but now you have to pay to be allowed to go there and spend your money for beer and food. Odd, but there are still queues.

So here are the (weirdly complicated) new opening times and rules:
Free Admission: Tues+Wed: 12:00-23:30, Thurs: 12:00-20:00, Fri+Sat: 12:00-16:00, Sun 12:30-16:00+17:00-22:30
NOT free: Thurs: 20:00-23:30 (EUR 8), Fri-Sat: 17:00-23:30 (EUR 12 with EUR 5 meal voucher)
Mondays the Oktoberfest is closed and Fri-Sun the fest is closed from 16:00-17:00

So the best advise is to go on Tuesday, Wednesday or Sunday.

The website ´link is below, but be aware that at the time of writing this, the website was NOT yet updated on all pages. Only the front page seems to be correct.

Smithfield Horse Fair

09:00 – 13:00, Sun 16 Sep

Smithfield Plaza, Dublin 7

The Smithfield Horse Fair was a long standing institution where for many years at the first Sunday in every month, horse traders (mainly from the travelling community) came together to sell and buy horses. If I remember right, the fair is a right that is firmly written down in city laws. However, bad treatment of animals, anti-social behaviour and other problems (even a shooting once) turned this horse market into a nightmare for Dublin City.

It seems they couldn’t stop it or make it illegal, but they were able to limit the market to twice per year and so the highly regulated Smithfield Horse Fair takes place on the first Sunday in March and in September. NORMALLY! This year the March fair had to be postponed to June because of the bad weather and for some reason, the September fair was also moved from the first Sunday to the 3rd Sunday.

Initially an attempt was made to add music, storytelling and other entertainment to the event so that the horse trading would be pushed in the background, but that didn’t work. So now it is back to horse trading as the main purpose.

Trader need to register with Dublin City and get a trading license for the day and with all these restrictions the market is definitely not what it was before. Traffic restrictions are on place as you can see on the website below and all the relevant authorities will most likely be present.

But did limiting the market to two per year solve the problem? Well, it is highly unlikely that the horse traders now only twice a year feel a need to sell and buy horses. So if they buy and sell more frequently then the trading happens elsewhere where the authorities can’t keep an eye on it. Consequently the problem might have gone away for Dublin, but if we don’t see it, it doesn’t mean it is not happening!

Now the big questions that people ask:
1) What is there to do?
2) I love animals. In the interest of the horses, should I go to the Horse Fair or stay away?

1) There is not much to do at the event, but you will see a good few horses and a horse fair is a bit of a spectacle.
2) Many have the concern that going to the Horse Fair would support bad treatment of animals because sellers and buyers at the fair have been found in the past to mistreat the horses and ponies. However, your attendance (or not) will not have any impact on the horse fair and will also not influence the sellers or buyers to treat the animals in any other way than they normally do. Because the authorities are expected to be there in big numbers the horse handlers are probably on their best behaviour anyway. So it is unlikely that your attendance or non-attendance will have any impact on the welfare of the animals.

So if you want to see what this is all about, don’t feel morally obliged to stay away. Going to Smithfield Plaza does not support the trading (or any sort of bad treatment) of animals.

Dublin Hong Kong Dragon Boat Regatta

09:30, Sun 16 Sep

Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2

A Dragon Boat Regatta is taking place in Grand Canal Dock. There is no programme or other events for an interested audience. but if you want to see a Dargon Boat Race, you can do that there. ;-)

Magazine Fort – Guided Tour

10:00, Sun 16 Sep

Magazine Fort, Phoenix Park, Dublin 8

The Magazine Fort in Phoenix Park was for a long time completely neglected, but it is hugely rich in history. Many have seen it as a barred off concrete fortress in a corner of Phoenix Park and even more don’t even know or have forgotten that it exists. The old Phoenix House, the home of the British Viceroy, was on the site where the fort was built from the early 17th century and then in 1734 the Fort was built and extended in 1801.

In 1916 the Fort was raided by the rebels who expected to find a lot of explosives there, but found the Fort nearly empty. In 1939 the IRA raided the Fort and stole more than a million rounds of ammunition, but most of it was recovered over the following weeks.

Since 1988, the Irish Army doesn’t use the Fort anymore and gave it back to the Office of Public Works (OPW), but not much good has happened to the Fort in the last 30 years (!!) and there were numerous speculations about the reasons for that.

Finally since 2016, guided tours are provided and this year from April until end of October there will be three tours every Sunday at 10:00, 12:00 and 14:00. Only 20 places are available on each tour and if there is a big event in Phoenix Park the tour will be cancelled.

Tickets are available at the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre on a first come, first served basis and can not be pre-booked. A shuttle bus will bring the ticket holders to the Fort.

Right To Repair Campaign

20:00, Wed 19 Sep

Teachers Club, 36 Parnell Square West, Dublin 1

This is the inaugural meeting of the Right To Repair Campaign, a new movement in Ireland that wants to have legislation in place that we are all allowed to repair everything like software of cars, exchange mobile phone batteries, etc.

Interesting idea, but it’s not that we are NOT allowed to repair, the items are just too complex so that HOPEFULLY not everybody can re-programme their car software or – as in the case of mobile phone batteries – making the battery accessible means that the mobile phone has to be built differently, which would mean an increase in price (it always does). So it’s in an interesting idea, but I am not sure about its merit and benefit.

Life at the Edges – Science Gallery Exhibition

12:00 – 22:00, Fri 21 Sep

Science Gallery, Pearse Street, TCD, Dublin 2

The Science Gallery will stay open until 22:00 on Culture Night and if you haven’t seen the current exhibition, this might be your last opportunity, because “Life at the Edges” closes on 30 September!

——-

Oktoberfest Dublin 2018

12:00 – 16:00, Fri 21 Sep

George’s Dock, IFSC, Dublin 1

The super popular Oktoberfest Dublin is back and will take place from Fri 14 Sept – Sat 06 Oct. If you like German Beer (Erdinger Beer), German Food (Bratwurst, Haxn (Pigs Knuckles)) and Bavarian Music (Eeek!) after 16:00, then this event is for you!

Culture Night at Collins Barracks

15:00 – 20:00, Fri 21 Sep

National Museum, Collins Barracks (Decorative Arts & History), 7 Benburb Street, Dublin 7

One of the main locations for Culture Night in 2018 is Collins Barracks. RTE will take over the place and run lots of different events, most of which will be recorded. From 15:00-20:00 a variety of cultural events will take place and they will be listed here below.

From 20:00-22:00 RTE will invite to a concert in the courtyard of Collins Barracks. Last year the venue for this concert was the courtyard of Dublin Castle, which is – in my opinion – a MUCH more suitable location. But let me list the concert as a separate event and here are the events until 20:00:

+ 15:00-18:00 Studio Visit: Róisín de Buitléar – Drop into artist-in-residence Róisín de Buitléar’s studio to find out about her residency at the Museum and learn about her work as an internationally renowned glass artist.

Live music comes from musicians Martin Tourish, Tríona Marshall, Zoe Conway, Niwel Tsumbu and Simon Morgan. (This event is now fully booked.)
+ 16:30-20:00 Banter with Jim Carroll (Audio Visual Theatre) about the role and influence of arts and culture on lives and work. Tickets are required and are available via links on the website below. Tickets are free. There Banter sessions will take place
— 16:30-17:00 with Andrea Horan, founder of Tropical Popical nail salon and co-host of Don’t Stop Repealin’ podcast
— 17:30-18:00 with Ivana Bacik, Senator, Reid Professor of Criminal Law, Criminology and Penology at Trinity College Dublin
— 19:30-20:00 Emilie Pine, author of Notes To Self and Associate Professor in Modern Drama at UCD
+ 17:00-17:30 Readings (Audio Visual Theatre) – Winning short stories from the RTÉ Radio 1 Francis MacManus Short Story Competition and conversations with their authors.
+ 17:45-18:45 Playing with Words (Asgard Room) – An evening of song, poetry, prose, as our panel discusses how literature, poetry, plays and song have helped celebrate sporting moments and how major sporting moments have influenced Irish society and Irish literature. (This event is now fully booked.)
+ 18:30-19:30 Comedy Gold (Audio Visual Theatre) – A line up of new and emerging comedy talent including Emily O’Callaghan, Aoife O’Connor, Pedro Ribeiro, Grace Mulvey, Erin Ferguson, Stephen Ryan and Emily Ashmore. Tickets are required.
+ 19:00-20:00 Culture Cabinet (Asgard Room) – Four special guests open their Culture Cabinet, where they share their stories about their most treasured possessions that have a cultural significance for them.

Culture Night 2018

17:00 – 23:00, Fri 21 Sep

Dublin (various locations)

Ireland’s Culture Night, the best event of the year, where everybody who takes part afterwards suggests that it should take place AT LEAST twice every year, will happen this coming Friday. On 21 Sept, from 17:00-22:00 (or 23:00), Dublin will be buzzing with cultural activities.

Museums, Galleries and all sorts of other cultural venues will be open in the evening and will run special programmes, concerts, performances. talks, Open Door events, exhibitions etc. It is an event you CAN NOT miss if you are interested in culture in the slightest.

There are hundreds of events in Dublin alone (the event is nationwide!) and some people find it difficult to get a handle of the day, so let me help you!

There are different strategies and I suggest you chose one of them or alternatively use a combination of them. One of the strategies involved using a Culture Night app that was available in 2016 and 2017, but that convenient way to find what is happening nearby and to even put a list of preferred events together is gone. What a pity!

1) Go to the Culture Night website and select what you like from the 360 (!!!) events in Dublin alone. (There is NO downloadable programme anymore unfortunately.) If you click on an event, you will be shown a description and more details. Above that description you can click on “Add to Trail” to add it to your events list for the night. At least some way to pre-select/short-list BUT don’t do the Trail selection at your Laptop and then expect that when you go out on Friday your Smartphone Browser will know the Trail UNLESS you have shared the Trail. (Click on See Your Trail and then select Share Your Trail)
But the handy map that shows you the locations is also not available anymore. :-O (I am still looking for the POSITIVE changes.) The list that you can print also is just an alphabetical list.

There is a free Shuttle Bus Service on four routes to help you get around. Details are in the events list under “Culture Night Bus Route A”

2) The first option requires meticulous planning. The second option uses creative drifting! ;-) You just go into the City Centre and follow your nose. Enjoy what you come across and don’t worry about what you might miss. But where should you start? Go to the events page and select Dublin. Now you will see “Refine Location” next to it select one of the areas and click on SEARCH. If you scroll through the search list and see plenty of events that interest you, then this might be a good area to start.

There will be hundreds of events and I will mention a few (but just a fraction of the total amount) here in the Dublin Event Guide.

If you wonder what I will do, this is my approach: I usually chose a combination of 1) and 2). This is a possibly trail: Start at Merrion Square. A number of buildings are open around Merrion Square. Then onwards to Kildare Street with the Alliance Francaise and the National Library and the Royal College of Physicians (look at their library). If you have never seen the Freemason’s Hall in Molesworth Street, join the super long (but usually relatively fast moving) queue. It is worth it! The Mansion House will also have guided tours and is always popular.
Now over to the Science Gallery or if you have never been, you can even join the queue for Trinity College and the Book of Kells (search for “The Old Library and the Book of Kells Exhibition”). And finally go to Temple Bar. On Meeting House Square there will be music and galleries in Temple Bar are also open.

All events are free. But some venues are so popular that there will be queues outside.

I am a huge fan of Culture Night and wouldn’t miss it. I will probably post some pictures from my tour through Dublin on the Dublin Event Guide Facebook group and let me know there what you have done/seen/experienced!

Nava – The world’s only Irish/Iranian trad act will continue to explore a unique sonic landscape between the ancient musical cultures of Ireland and Persia
Doireann Ní Ghríofa – Recital from award-winning bilingual poet, in both Irish and English
Moxie – A performance – with special guests – from musicians creating a new brand of Irish music heavily influenced by electro, jazz, house, and rock

For the last two years (maybe even more), this concert took place in the Upper Courtyard of Dublin Castle. A great location for a concert like this and in a very convenient location for all the people that are enjoying Culture Night in the City centre. However, two years ago there were seemingly more crowd barriers to guide the expected masses, than there were people because it was a rainy night. Last year it was busy but by far not crowded.
But if a city centre location doesn’t get the people, then will Collins Barrack be a good place? The music style of the Arena Radio programme is not my preferred style, but I did enjoy some parts of the concert last year and the year before. This year I will not get to hear it, it’s just too far out when you are on foot.

This is odd

Please note: This section contains observations taken from the world I live in that strike me as odd. I express my personal opinion and you might not share it. ;-) If you are easily offended by opinions that are not identical with your own, please don’t read this section and I am VERY serious about that!

Pet Hate Alert: “, and” – Mind your commas!

Why, oh why can people not write proper English. I am foreigner and at least I have a semi-acceptable excuse, but the amount of native English speakers (and writers) that ALWAYS put a comma before an “and” is shocking.

An example would be: “At the event, there will be music, dance, and theatre!”

This is WRONG!!!!!! A comma can be put before an “and” but only if the following sentence after the “and” could be a self standing sentence. Do not use a comma before “and” in a list.

And if you tell me now that the comma in a list is an Oxford Comma, then I will ask you next if your publication is the “Oxford University Press”, because that is the publication that came up with the very controversial use of a comma in a list.

It would help me if you told me in an e-mail why you decided to unsubscribe, but that is not a “Must”. If you only want to stop receiving the newsletter temporarily, you can – if you wish – discuss this with me by e-mail so that we find a solution that makes sense to you. If you unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of the mail and there is a chance that you – at some stage – want to re-subscribe, please make sure that you keep a mail with the “unsubscribe link” because I will not be able to add you anymore to the list once you have unsubscribed using this link. The only way you can re-subscribe is to follow that specific link and change the settings yourself.
This Event Guide (the “Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)”) is an Event Guide with a difference. It covers mostly free events based on the thinking that free events deserve additional support and that non-free events have the money to pay for advertisement. The Guide is a _Guide_ and not just a listing and is therefore at times quite extensive. It is sent for free to anybody who is interested and if you want to be added to the mailing list or know somebody who would like to receive this guide, just send them to www.dublineventguide.com, where they can subscribe. If you have feedback – good or bad – PLEASE tell me via dublineventguide@gmail.com.
BTW: I am not paid or otherwise rewarded for compiling and distributing this Event Guide it is purely a hobby so your donations are needed: www.perfectresults.info/donation.htm . Advertisement in or sponsorship of the Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events) is possible and very welcome, please contact me for more information.
Please note: The Dublin Event Guide (for Free Event) is not related or connected to the long gone fortnightly printed publication “the event guide” that you found until December 2008 in pubs and other venues.
