Dublin Event Guide 760: Do you like Flea Markets & Fairs? — Latin Market, Richmond Barracks May Fair, Digital Depot Flea Market, Le Zeitgeist Flea Market

Dublin Event Guide (for free events)

Do you like Flea Markets & Fairs?

Latin Market, Richmond Barracks May Fair, Digital Depot Flea Market, Le Zeitgeist Flea Market

Hi all!

May is nearly over and I don’t know about you, but to me it feels as if this year is racing by even faster than other years.

Is it because we got used to a different way of living over the last 2.5 years and now, when we do just a few activities, it seems as if we are mad busy?

Or is it because with advancing age time tends to speed up? ;-)

Over the last few weeks a large number of events were offered by amazing organisers and most people are clearly happy to do things again, to meet people and to enjoy culture. Some are still a bit fearful or reluctant and that is perfectly fine, but I suggest that you – in a pace that works for you – start getting out again. Outdoor events are a good start!

There is an expectation that towards autumn some restrictions might return. At the lowest level this would be the wearing of masks again, but in some countries, elaborate plans are being put in place to deal with a resurgence of the “Rona”. We can’t do much to prevent it at this stage, but for your mental health it is important that you LIVE for a while again before new restrictions might come in once more.

When you go to events, first of all enjoy them! Then – if possible – please let the organisers know that you enjoy their events / appreciate their work / are glad that they haven’t given up. That bit of appreciation really means a LOT! Some organisers or performers get nothing else than a bit of thanks or praise!

And now it is time to get started with this week’s “Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)”!

Donations in June:
EUR 139

(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.)

If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.

The counter here shows the current donation status. By the end of the month EUR 200 will be subtracted to pay the bills. If more money has been donated, the rest will be carried forward. If donations have stopped below the EUR 200, the missing amount will be carried over.

Last week the great people that helped with a donation were Mary, Eamonn, Gennady, Brendan, Katie, Aoife, Triona and Sarah! Thanks a lot! You are really appreciated and your donation is essential to keep the Dublin Event Guide alive.

With the above counter you know at all times where we stand and when donating is needed. Donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and all donors will also get some additional bonuses. The first of those bonuses is described above.

Here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 3. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.

To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb or now also revolut.me/joergbrb
(If possible, please send your full name and e-mail address as a message with the payment via PayPal or Revolut so that I can tell you about bonuses for donors when available.)

To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?

Thank you!!

And there is more…

+++ AFRICA DAY 2022
Africa Day took place on 25 May and – at least in Dublin – this year it it didn’t really get the attention it deserves. But it is not over until the choirs sing! ;-) And so the Gardiner Street Gospel Choir and the African Gospel Choir come together on Sunday to celebrate and sing at an Africa Day Celebration Mass. It is a catholic mass, but everyone is welcome, independent from your religion or believes. The mass takes place at 19:30 in St. Francis Xavier Church in Upper Gardiner Street. www.facebook.com/events/1395915974210594

+++ Low Priced Books with free delivery
Book Depository is the place where you can buy low priced books, usually for better prices than on Amazon and Book Depository always delivers for free. And by buying books from Book Depository you will also help the Dublin Event Guide for no additional cost to you. Use this link: shor.by/BookDepository
  .
For the next few days (until 05 June), you can get an additional 5% discount on your Book Depository orders if you use discount code IRELAND5.

+++ LEARN A NEW SKILL WITH ONLINE COURSES – SPECIAL OFFER
Is there ever a wrong time for learning a new skill or enhancing what you are already interested in? Maybe it is a language or an instrument or some technical skills? Or NLP or some Business related “soft skills”? Check out Udemy via the link below, they have thousands of courses and there is good chance that what you are looking for is available. Nearly all the courses are REALLY affordable!
The lowest price most of the time is EUR 12.99, so definitely do-able. Occassionally it goes even below that and I will mention it here when I find out. Check out the website at shor.by/GqCk And if you buy through that link, you also help the Dublin Event Guide! :-)

+++ International Literature Festival Dublin
The International Literature Festival Dublin takes place from 19-29 May and for the first time, the main Festival site will be Merrion Square Park. There are also some additional events in other venues (e.g. Oscar Wilde House, National Gallery, Irish Architectural Archive and the Trinity Long Room Hub) all in the neighbourhood of Merrion Square. In Merrion Square, five tents will be the locations for all the events. The organisers tell us that in addition to the non-free events, “We also cater for a limited number of free drop-in events.”, but I wasn’t able to find these free events easily and in the end gave up. Hopefully you have more luck! The full programme can be found here ilfdublin.com/whats-on/festival/

Until Sunday 29 May, www.prettylittlething.ie/ will reduce your order by 40% (excl Sale & Beauty) if you use code GRAB10

And this is it for another week! Have a great weekend and good new week.

Take care,

–Joerg (dublineventguide@gmail.com)
