An extra day of the day job that can be used to enjoy events, how great is that! :-)
The weekend is busy and I think I found an event for virtually everybody. Now it is up to you to make use of all the offers that are out there. I will have a busy weekend, but that is not a complaint at all. Instead it is the great sign that the outdoor season is starting. Next week there will be the Gospel Rising Festival in Bray (http://www.gospelrising.com) and on 24-27 May the Dublin City Soul Festival (http://soul.ie/), one of my most favourite festivals, will be back.

With soo much happening in the coming weeks, I will keep my eye on all these free events, but that means I can not focus on spreading the word about the Dublin Event Guide much. That’s where you come in! I need you to helpor help a bit more if you already told a number of people.

The Dublin Event Guide Community is growing every week, but lately there are 5-10 unsubscribes because people are moving away from Ireland. I sometimes get the most heart wrenching mails where a number of times people told me “Please don’t send me the Dublin Event Guide anymore, I love it, but I had to leave Ireland and everytime I get the newsletter, I get homesick.” Tough times for some! But all in all it is a worthwhile experience to work abroad for a while if you grew up in Ireland and for people from other countries, it sometimes just brings forward some plans about going back that were there anyway.
Now, if people have to unsubscribe, this means that I need MORE new subscribers to compensate. Please help!

Spread the word, so that everybody in Dublin will hear about the “Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)”. Get your friends and colleagues to subscribe on http://www.dublineventguide.com or they can go to http://www.facebook.com/DublinEventGuide (Click on “Join Email List” at the top)! Every bit of help is hugely appreciated and is important to ensure that you all will continue to get the Dublin Event Guide every week. If you have never helped with a contribution, ask yourself if the Dublin Event Guide has helped you to find events that you otherwise wouldn’t have known about …and then go to http://www.perfectresults.info/donate.htm

I appreciate ANY help: EUR 12 would be great, but even if it is just the price of 2 pints it will help me to cover the cost (I need about 4 donations every week for that) a or even to improve the Event Guide (anything above 4 donations).

I am giving 25-30 hours every week for no pay or reward, so that you get the Dublin Event Guide every week. And all I ask for is just 25 cent per week from you or EUR 12 per year. Where else can you get sooo much value for soo little money!? :-)

BTW: If you think that funds from advertisement should be enough because you see a few ads here or on the website, then please note that only if YOU click on the link in this newsletter/e-zine AND then buy or order (for example, order books from bookdepository) a (very) small amount (EUR 0.30 on average!) will be paid to me. If you don’t BUY after clicking or if you buy at a later stage without using the links in my ads, I get nothing. So it helps if you use the links I provide every time you want to purchase something. Have a look at the website http://www.dublineventguide.com and if you want to book a hotel at hotels.com or buy something from any of the other advertisers, make sure you click on the ad on the website just before you buy, only then I will get some money for the ads.

You can donate online by following this link to the PayPal&CreditCard donation page http://www.perfectresults.info/donation.htm If you want to transfer your donation directly to my account, just send a mail to dublineventguide@gmail.com and I will send you the details.

In the last 12 months the following wonderful people have sponsored this Dublin Event Guide: Luke, Monika K, Janine McK, Sebastian B, Paul T, Anne G, Marc F, Camelia P, Nicola B, Ciaran H, Ryan M, Ellen M, Gerard C, Laura G, Fergus G, Emma S, Tara R, Karen L, Catherine T., Rainey D-G, Sally P, Johan S, Lorraine F, Eimear MacH, Elzbieta D, Monika E, Tracey OC, Julia Sch., Isabelle F, Barry P, Alan G, Gerard Ph, Irial G, Louise M, Milena V, Fanny T, Clodagh O’C, Fiona F, Yvonne S, Loretta K, Lauren O’R, Charles C, Caoimhe L, Adrian Ph, Sandi C, Elva O’G, Sally Ph, Thomas D, Emilie Ch, Hans Martin W, Eamonn O’R, Patrick O’C, Eamonn U, Fiona O’R, Louise B, Serena F, Paul M, Louise F, Colin D, Philip McK, Catherine E, Mélanie B, Irene H, Jo H, Ronan K, Clodagh O’C, Alison P, Claire H, Brian L, Therese O’R, Sean S, Zelie McG, Christian K, Esme E, Vincent R, Sophie P, Tom B, Barbara Q-B, Joan S, Catherine E, Deirdre I, Donna M, Conor R, Tom McM, Anna F, Corina R, Maite L-Sch, Aine C, Justin McC, Paul A, Enrique P, Kiera M, Sinead D and Sarah C, Anto K, A C, Lorraine M, Nikodem R, Stefanie N, Emma L, Brendan M, Margaret B, Karen D, Clare D, Paula R, Selina McC, Darragh D, Marta T, Rebecca T, Celina N, Caroline K, Nicola R, Brendan M, Carmel M, Wanda J, Clodagh C, Martin O’S, Orla K, Franziska B, Pawel B and http://www.GravitationalFX.ie (An Irish Web Design, SEO and Internet Marketing who offer affordable web design.), http://www.FlamencoIndalo.com (A group that supports and promotes the art of Flamenco in Ireland.), http://www.olliart.com (An art curator and seller of art to businesses and private collectors.), http://www.thepaulkanegallery.com (A great Art Gallery, on the search for a new gallery venue.) and http://www.a1computers.ie in Dun Laoghaire/Cabinteely (…who repair computers, printers and sort out Internet problems fast and who sell computers, laptops and lo w priced printer cartridges). This weekend is different and you should definitely be able to easily find something to do.

I will have some Krav Maga (self-defence) training this Saturday (http://www.kravmagaireland.com), so I won’t get a chance to do much then, but if I had time, I would go to the “Physics High Flyer” event and to the Crypt Craft Market. In the evening I might go to the Bray Jazz Festival, but unfortunately I will miss the Mexican Cinco the Mayo Fiesta in Dun Laoghaire.

On Sunday I plan to go to the Vintage Fair in the Food Co-op and to Art in Action in Phoenix Park. If you want to go to a gig, check out the Workman’s Club gig and the Independent Rock film screening plus live music in the Button Factory.

On Monday Art in Action is on the plan if I don’t make it on Sunday and I haven’t been in Ikea for a while, so you might find me there.

Tuesday is the day for the Milk & Cookies Stories in the Exchange, an event that is already popular and is attracting even more and more people.

On Wednesday the Temple Bar Cultural Trust is inviting to a whole variety of events Europe Day and some are really interesting and finally on Thursday, I would love to go to the TCD discussion about “Greed and the Crisis”. From Fri 11 – Sun 13 May, Bray is the Gospel Capital of Ireland and Gospel Rising is one of the first music festivals of the season.
“Gospel Rising” is a combination of free gospel choir gigs and non-free high quality workshops, giving everyone the chance to experience gospel choir singing.
This years workshops are all listed on http://www.gospelrising.com/workshop-details.html and even if you have never sung before or are not in a Gospel Choir you can take part and enjoy. Topics and areas that are covered are to improve your soloist skills and styles, join in with large group workshops, experience gospel styles like Contemporary Gospel or Barbershop, and the choreography style this year will be based on the TV show, Glee. You can choose the workshops you like.
There are still some weekend ticket available (EUR 60) and there will be free Gospel Concerts on Friday and Saturday. More details will be included here next week, but in the meantime you can find them on http://www.gospelrising.com
The organisers have made 2 Weekend Tickets available for a competition and I will inform the winners over this weekend and will announce their names next week.
http://www.gospelrising.com and https://www.facebook.com/groups/361605296569

TOLTEC SELF MASTERY TALK – TICKET COMPETITION

On Thurs 03 May Don Luis Molinar, an international teacher of Toltec Mastery, gave an introductory talk on Toltec Self Mastery. The Toltecs believe that we are dreaming all the time, whether asleep or awake, and that we have the power to change that dream from fear to love in any moment, to create a new dream of happiness and fulfilment for ourselves, our families and our communities.
