The hiccups lately are caused by a spam checker. When I send the weekly newsletter, it will be checked to see if it is spam-suspicious and the mail will be graded on a scale from 0-5. The closer it is to 5 the more likely it is that the spam checker on your end will refuse accepting the mail. So the check makes a lot of sense, but because a wrong word or an exclamation mark at the wrong place can turn a totally harmless sentence into a suspicious message, the process is at the same time a bit pain. iContact, who send the mails for me to all 10600 of you don’t send a mail if the spam score is too high and it can take a long time to find the one word that triggers the too high rating. Ahh, the fun of it! ;-)

“Mail size” is a criteria as well in the classification process and it is currently my biggest problem. Work is ongoing and hopefully soon a solution will be found! :-)

[ad]

Hey, did you see that we are now more than 8,000 people that Like the Dublin Event Guide on Facebook? You wonder why I added this section to this e-zine? If your week was great, you might not need it, but most of us had some challenging moments in the last week and this section is for the people that want to remind that despite all, life is great and it is important to be alive!
Have you heard the saying “People come into your life for a reason”? This week’s video clip quotes the full saying and combines that with some nice pictures. I have experienced that again and again: People that I met that had a huge impact on my life or just made a small difference. They were with me on life’s path for a while and then we parted ways. Where we are today is a product of our experiences and of the people we met in the past. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLltt5cPDOc

–Advertisement————————————

BOOK DEPOSITORY – BETTER THAN AMAZON
Books for lower prices than Amazon, sent to you with no postage cost, individually packed and within 48 hours. Every bit of help is hugely appreciated and is important to ensure that you all will continue to get the Dublin Event Guide every week. If you have never helped with a contribution, ask yourself if the Dublin Event Guide has helped you to find events that you otherwise wouldn’t have known about …and then go to http://www.perfectresults.info/donate.htm

I appreciate ANY help: EUR 12 would be great, but even if it is just the price of 2 pints it will help me to cover the cost (I need about 4 donations every week for that) a or even to improve the Event Guide (anything above 4 donations).

I am giving 25-30 hours every week for no pay or reward, so that you get the Dublin Event Guide every week. And all I ask for is just 25 cent per week from you or EUR 12 per year. Where else can you get sooo much value for soo little money!? :-)

BTW: If you think that funds from advertisement should be enough because you see a few ads here or on the website, then please note that only if YOU click on the link in this newsletter/e-zine AND then buy or order (for example, order books from bookdepository) a (very) small amount (EUR 0.30 on average!) will be paid to me. If you don’t BUY after clicking or if you buy at a later stage without using the links in my ads, I get nothing. So it helps if you use the links I provide every time you want to purchase something. Have a look at the website http://www.dublineventguide.com and if you want to book a hotel at hotels.com or buy something from any of the other advertisers, make sure you click on the ad on the website just before you buy, only then I will get some money for the ads.

You can donate online by following this link to the PayPal&CreditCard donation page http://www.perfectresults.info/donation.htm If you want to transfer your donation directly to my account, just send a mail to dublineventguide@gmail.com and I will send you the details.

In the last 12 months the following wonderful people have sponsored this Dublin Event Guide: Noemi V, Ciaran W, Isabel F, Brendan M , Tom D, Luke, Monika K, Janine McK, Tom D, Sebastian B, Paul T, Anne G, Marc F, Camelia P, Nicola B, Ciaran H, Ryan M, Ellen M, Gerard C, Laura G, Fergus G, Emma S, Tara R, Karen L, Catherine T., Rainey D-G, Sally P, Johan S, Lorraine F, Eimear MacH, Elzbieta D, Monika E, Tracey OC, Julia Sch., Isabelle F, Barry P, Alan G, Gerard Ph, Irial G, Louise M, Milena V, Fanny T, Clodagh O’C, Fiona F, Yvonne S, Loretta K, Lauren O’R, Charles C, Caoimhe L, Adrian Ph, Sandi C, Elva O’G, Sally Ph, Thomas D, Emilie Ch, Hans Martin W, Eamonn O’R, Patrick O’C, Eamonn U, Fiona O’R, Louise B, Serena F, Paul M, Louise F, Colin D, Philip McK, Catherine E, Mélanie B, Irene H, Jo H, Ronan K, Clodagh O’C, Alison P, Claire H, Brian L, Therese O’R, Sean S, Zelie McG, Christian K, Esme E, Vincent R, Sophie P, Tom B, Barbara Q-B, Joan S, Catherine E, Deirdre I, Donna M, Conor R, Tom McM, Anna F, Corina R, Maite L-Sch, Aine C, Justin McC, Paul A, Enrique P, Kiera M, Sinead D and Sarah C, Anto K, A C, Lorraine M, Nikodem R, Stefanie N, Emma L, Brendan M, Margaret B, Karen D, Clare D, Paula R, Selina McC, Darragh D, Marta T, Rebecca T, Celina N, Caroline K, Nicola R and http://www.GravitationalFX.ie (An Irish Web Design, SEO and Internet Marketing who offer affordable web design.), http://www.FlamencoIndalo.com (A group that supports and promotes the art of Flamenco in Ireland.), http://www.olliart.com (An art curator and seller of art to businesses and private collectors.), http://www.thepaulkanegallery.com (A great Art Gallery, on the search for a new gallery venue.) and http://www.a1computers.ie in Dun Laoghaire/Cabinteely (…who repair computers, printers and sort out Internet problems fast and who sell computers, laptops and lo w priced printer cartridges). None of them are really massive, but all these little events are nevertheless hugely interesting. It is an educational week again with lots and lots of lectures and it is a week for film fans.

On Saturday I will be at a wedding in the afternoon, but would love to go to the Sun Show of Astronomy Ireland if I could or the Händel Concert in the afternoon. For some the Oltremara Dances from the north of Italy will be exciting, but it is not really my thing. ;-)

On Sunday the Fencing Taster Session interests me and apart from that I will probably be at the Brocante Market and spend some time in Iveagh Gardens enjoying spring out in nature.

On Monday the Five Lamps Festival starts. Lots of free events, but a little difficult to find. However, if you don’t give up and keep looking for the right event for you, you will be rewarded with good events! The latin American Film Festival starts as well on Monday.

Tuesday is a mad day: Really interesting Science Gallery events, a talk about the Northstrand Bombings, A photography Workshop in the Instituto Cervantes, a documentary screening about important Italians in Ireland and the Climate. Culture. Change event. Wow! How can I decide between all these!? :-O

Wednesday is quieter and I would go to the Inn Jokes if I had time.

Thursday is Event Guide night for me as well, but you could go for me to the Grow Your Business lecture or the really interesting sounding Amnesty International talk about Russia, the Mafia State OR the talk about the Chinese Space Programme. Again too much choice!

;-) Enjoy the week!

______________________________
______Competition______________

THE STORY OF ABBA – TICKET COMPETITION
The Tivoli is venue for “Thank you for the Music – The story of ABBA”, a multi-media experience of film, drama, costumes, choreography and the music of the greatest pop group of all time. A full timetable is here http://www.fivelampsarts.ie/timetable, but unfortunately it doesn’t indicate which events are free and which aren’t. There are many free events, but with regret I have to say that it is sooo laborious to separate free from non-free events, that I gave up. Instead you will have to check through all 10 categories yourself and in most cases you will have to check each individual event via the READ MORE link to find out if there is a charge or not. He studied at Trinity College and his visionary insights into future technology lie in what we now call nanoscience, with the invention of the near-field optical microscope that allows imaging below the diffraction limit, in LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) where he outlines a scheme for studies of the atmosphere, and in astronomy where he invented a new type of telescope. In today’s Russia human rights defenders and independent journalists are threatened, harassed and even attacked. The murder of Anna Politkovskaya in October 2006 shocked the world. Yet for every Anna, there have been many less widely known journalists killed for their work across Russia. Many of these deaths were never properly investigated. Luke Harding was appointed the Guardian’s Moscow correspondent in 2007 and wrote extensively on politics and corruption in Russia and the curtailment of civil liberties. He also investigated counter-terrorism and operations conducted by the Russian security forces in the Caucasus region. In 2011, shortly after reporting that leaked US diplomatic cables described Russia as a ‘virtual mafia state’, he became the first British journalists in 11 years to be expelled from Russia. In his new book he writes about his own experiences as a journalist targeted by the Federal Security Bureau who broke into his home, hacked his email and monitored his phone calls. All are welcome to his talk about his time in Moscow and about his book. (in Spanish: http://politica.elpais.com/politica/2012/04/11/actualidad/1334147016_538948.html)
This means, that if someone informs about a protest march via the Internet, he/she can be convicted for a minimum of 2 years in prison. Wow! Since a protest march can turn ugly even if the original intention was a peaceful and democratic protest, this could result in a situation where any information about any protest will be risky. Democracy this ain’t! In May 2011 a massive protest took place in Madrid (http://emajmagazine.com/2011/05/20/spain-starts-up-its-own-revolution) and was initiated via the Internet, this could be illegal when the new suggestions become law. Because governments don’t like the opposition and happily adopt ways to suppress opposition if it works in other countries, we should hope that the Spanish people will not let this suggestion by the Spanish interior minister become law!
http://www.freedominfonetwork.org/profiles/blogs/spain-accused-of-draconian-plans-to-clamp-down-on-protests

–Advertisement————————————

MySURVEY – Get rewarded for taking part in surveys.
