After many weeks away and after a looong journey, I arrived back in Dublin this morning. That means three things: I am happy to be back, I am a little sad to have left the people that I was with for the last few weeks and I am writing this in a somewhat sleep-deprived state, so if any sentences make less sense than usual, you know why.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\n

The timing could be worse, though. According to the more realistic forecasts (not the sensational ones!), temperatures could reach 21 degrees in Dublin this weekend, which might well be the warmest weather we have seen so far this year. Judging by the supermarket shelves, Ireland has already decided that barbecue season is officially open.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

It is amazing how quickly a bit of sunshine changes everything. Parks fill up, people suddenly remember that they own sunglasses and even an ordinary walk around the city feels a little more enjoyable. After spending months talking about rain, warnings and cancelled events, it is nice to have something more positive to report.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\n

So this week I have only one recommendation: make the most of it. Go to a cultural event, visit an exhibition, meet friends for a walk or fire up the barbecue. Whatever you choose, enjoy the good weather while it lasts. We all know how quickly things can change.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\nDublin City is celebrating Luke Kelly (1940-1984) an Irish singer, folk musician and actor from Dublin, who co-founded the Dubliners, with a 2-day event on Smithfield Plaza. https:\/\/www.dublincity.ie\/news\/dont-miss-dublin-city-council-luke-kelly-festival-smithfield-weekend<\/a> You know that I am very much in favour of all sorts of cultural events and especially if they are free. Luke Kelly deserves to be remembered and the festival is a great thing. But since Dublin has had LOTS of outstanding musicians, singers, songwriters and performers and with Luke Kelly especially for younger people now really being a historic rather than living memory, the question has to be asked if we should widen the scope of this festival in future? Luke Kelly could still be a central part but the festival could celebrate the rich and wider musical heritage of Dublin.\n<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
