The Easter weekend has arrived and April is underway, even if the weather is still throwing wobblers with another storm warning this weekend. I\u2019m away for a few weeks, so the Dublin Event Guide will be a bit shorter during that time. Still here, just a little more to the point.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

One thing that has been noticeable lately is the number of event cancellations due to weather warnings. This weekend, the \u201cEaster Eggscapade\u201d in Blackrock Park has been cancelled for Saturday. It raises a bit of a question: Are warnings becoming a little too cautious, or are organisers simply playing it safe? Maybe a bit of both? Should a Yellow warning be enough to give up normality? Because mad weather is normality in Ireland. ;-) Either way, it means some plans don\u2019t quite make it across the finish line.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

+++ Easter Eggscapade and Easter at Farmleigh House cancelled<\/strong>
\nEaster Eggscapade in Blackrock Park was meant to one of the biggest Family Easter events this year, but Met Eireann’s Yellow weather warning stopped the fun and the event has been cancelled by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown. https:\/\/www.dlrcoco.ie\/dlr-events\/event\/easter-eggscapade-2026<\/a>
\nFor very different reasons the OPW cancelled the highly popular other family Easter event: Easter at Farmleigh House has been super successful and popular for years, but the upcoming European Presidency influenced the OPW to stop the event.
\nI am sure our kids will TOTALLY understand that a European Presidency is more important than an Easter celebration!? Or maybe not? I guess it is ALL about priorities! https:\/\/farmleigh.ie\/events\/opw-easter-events\/<\/a><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

+++ Anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising<\/strong>
\n110 years ago, the Easter Rising happened in Ireland and the state is celebrating this event every Easter. With Easter being the odd festival that isn’t on a fixed date, the anniversary of the Easter Rising rarely takes place on the real anniversary, which would be 24 April, but always takes place on Easter Sunday.
\nThe ceremony will take place outside the GPO in O\u2019Connell Street on Sunday 05 April from 12:00 and it will be led by President Catherine Connolly, Taoiseach Miche\u00e1l Martin and the Minister for Defence Helen McEntee.
\nThere will be a Defence Forces brass band and pipe band and representatives of the Army, the Air Corps and the Naval Service will take part in the Ceremony. The final element will be a Air Corps fly past.
\nWell, that is the plan at the moment! But because there is still some weather warning in place for Sunday, it possible all gets changed or even cancelled.
\nYou are invited to attend the Ceremony, but you will have to be in the public viewing areas outside the GPO by 11:30. Large video screens will also be erected on either side of the GPO to show the Ceremony.
\nIf you want to watch it but not be at the GPO, you can turn your TV on and will see the live broadcast on RTE.
