St Patrick\u2019s Day is behind us and for me that usually feels like the real start of the event season in Dublin. When the green hats are gone and the city has recovered, then suddenly there are more things happening again, especially outdoors. Every year it feels like this is the point where the calendar starts filling up properly.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Even the weather seems to have got the memo this time. The rain has finally eased off, the sun is out and it almost feels like we might be moving towards spring for real. That alone makes it easier to leave the house again.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Because Easter is so close, the full complement of outdoor events i another little bit in waiting, but sooooon. For now it\u2019s just great to see this wonderful ball of fire in the sky and that events in Dublin are picking up again.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

This week’s Dublin Event Guide nearly didn’t make it. The editor that I use got a major update and nothing worked anymore. You will see that still some graphical elements are missing. +++ Colours Boat Races<\/strong>
\nThis Saturday 21 March, the Colours Boat Race, a rowing competition between UCD and Trinity College takes place on the Liffey. The Colours Boat Races began in 1947 when the Gannon Cup was presented in memory of UCD Captain Ciaran Gannon who was killed in Burma in 1944. Since then three more races were added and because the race needs the right water level it depends on the tide and therefore the start time changes from year to year.
\nThis year, the schedule is

\n11:15 – Corcoran Cup
