We are ten days into January and the year has already settled into its usual rhythm. The big promises of New Year\u2019s resolutions are starting to wobble, the \u201cnew year, new me\u201d slogans have gone quiet and normal life is slowly but firmly back in charge. And honestly, that\u2019s not a bad thing.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

January has a reputation for being grey, long and a bit joyless, but that only happens if we let it. This is actually the month where space opens up again. The noise drops, the calendar clears and there is room to do things because you want to, not because everyone else is doing them too.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Away from the December madness and the initial January sales hysteria, the city offers talks, exhibitions, music and small events that feel more human and more intentional. +++ LIVE AID EXHIBITION<\/strong>
\nLive Aid was a two-venue benefit concert and music-based fundraising initiative held on the same day on Saturday 13 July 1985 in Wembley Stadium in London and in the John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia. The event was organised by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for relief of the devastating 1983\u20131985 famine in Ethiopia. The charity single “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” in December 1984 was the start of the project. Live Aid was HUGE and had an estimated audience of 1.9 billion people in 150 nations.
\nSome of the performers at the concerts were U2, Phil Collins, David Bowie, Queen, Dire Straits, The Who, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Bob Geldof, String, Elvis Costello, Sade, Boomtown Rats, Status Quo, Spandau Ballet.
\nThe National Library of Ireland is showing 70 photos and images from this decade-impacting, momentous event at an exhibition in the National Photographic Archive, Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, D02 WF85.
\nThe exhibition will be on display at least until March, possibly longer and will be open from 10:00-16:00 every Monday to Sunday (last admission 15:30). Admission is free.

\nIkea in Ballymun runs a variety of crafting, music and cooking workshops it is always worh checking out. The workshops are free and usually go for 45 minutes.
