Culture Night 2025 is behind us, and what a night it was! Despite the rain, Dublin\u2019s streets were filled with energy, curiosity and plenty of umbrellas. From music and dance to history and art, the city\u2019s cultural institutions and creative corners opened their doors and invited us in for an evening of discovery. It’s always a treat to see the familiar in a new light and to find hidden gems in unexpected places.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\n

There\u2019s something quite special about Culture Night \u2013 it breaks down barriers and brings people together in shared spaces to celebrate creativity. It\u2019s also a brilliant reminder of the vibrant cultural life that thrives all year round in Dublin, not just on one special night.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Many of the venues and performers featured last night offer free events throughout the year \u2013 and you can find many of them listed right here in the Dublin Event Guide every week.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

And now? Well, as we pack away our Culture Night maps and dry off our raincoats, the next major celebration is Open House Dublin. Different and somewhat less frequented, it’s another fantastic opportunity to explore the city in a new way, this time through its architecture and built heritage. Open House Dublin will be on from 11-19 October (with the main days to visit sites in Dublin on the weekend 18+19 Oct). A LOT of events need pre-booking and booking opens on 24 September, so be at the front of the queue on Wednesday! Tickets are snapped up like hot cakes. +++ DUBLIN FESTIVAL OF HISTORY<\/strong>
\nFrom Friday 26 September – Sunday 12 October the Dublin Festival of History will take place again. The Big Weekend is on Sat\/Sun 26+27 September and will this year be in the Round Room in Mansion House. +++ EUROPEAN RESEARCHERS NIGHT<\/strong>
\nEvery year on the Friday after Culture Day the European Researchers Night will take place in Trinity College (and connected institutions). The day is this year Friday 26 Sept. There will be a Research Village on the Front Square in TCD with research demos and explanations. Talks will take place in the exam hall and the Biomedical Institute. +++ Dublin Tourism Office in new location<\/strong>
\nWho remembers the wonderful Dublin Tourism Office in St. Andrews Church in Suffolk Street? It was quirky having the Tourism Office in a former church and it had a nice and inviting atmosphere. But in 2015 it was decided to move it to new premises in Suffolk Street and in their wisdom the people designing the office, created what was compared to an Apple Computers Shop. Super modern, minimalistic and super cold and – in my opinion – totally uninviting.
\nStyle is subjective and I probably am not the best person to request style-advise from, so maybe I am completely wrong, but the “new” Tourist Office left me completely cold.
\nLast night, at Culture Night, I walked that location and saw that it is emptied out and will be turned into a restaurant. I have no idea when the Dublin Tourism Office moved out and I couldn’t find a press release about the closure\/move (unlike the big news for the opening in 2015: https:\/\/www.failteireland.ie\/Footer\/Media-Centre\/State-of-the-art-%E2%80%98Visit-Dublin%E2%80%99-Centre-with-a-futu.aspx<\/a>). But when I checked if there is a new location, I found here https:\/\/www.dublintown.ie\/business\/dublin-visitor-centre\/<\/a> that it seemed to have moved to O’Connell Street.
\nSo if you have friends visiting you and you or they are looking for advice, don’t bring the to Suffolk Street anymore!

\nThe brilliant “Sculpture in Context” exhibition is returning to the National Botanic Gardens. In its 40th year, the exhibition will run from 04 Sept until 10 Oct.

\nEvery week, the Dublin City Council Culture Company organises cultural events in venues in Dublin. They are events in addition to the normal events in museums, galleries and other venues. All events are free, but access is by registration only. And these events are POPULAR!! So when I get to checking them out on the Friday before they take place, the most interesting ones are usually already booked out. \nIkea in Ballymun runs a variety of crafting, music and cooking workshops it is always worh checking out. The workshops are free and usually go for 45 minutes. They are always for children, but the age is often not fixed. There are specific Toddler and baby workshops at times as well.
