Culture Night is back this Friday and if you have never experienced it before, this is the year to dive in. From 17:00 until late, the city will be buzzing with free events across every corner of Dublin. Museums, galleries, theatres and hidden cultural gems will throw open their doors and welcome curious visitors for an evening of exploration and surprise. And with a dry forecast promised, it\u2019s the perfect night to stroll through the streets and soak it all in.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Ever fancied attending a silent disco in a historic church? St Andrew\u2019s Church on Suffolk Street will host one, complete with glow sticks and DJs. \nApplause Store are inviting to a free Netflix Film Screening of “House of Guinness” on Thursday 18 Sept at 17:00 in the Light House Cinema. This is a screening before the official release date and there will be cast present at the screening. The film is set in 19th-century Dublin and New York and tells the story of the Guinness family.

\nThis week, the Irish Times Higher Options event takes over the RDS from Wednesday until Friday. The organisers proudly expect 30,000 students to attend. Each student pays EUR 12.50 for the privilege, that’s EUR 375,000 from ticket sales alone. Add EUR 1,490 + VAT per exhibitor (about 150 of them) and you realise this is not just a career fair, it\u2019s a serious money-spinner.<\/p>\n

Now compare that with similar events in other European countries:

Once you step into the area and launch the walk, the app uses GPS to trigger layers of sound, voices and music that respond to your movements. Every participant\u2019s journey is unique. You decide which streets to wander, how long to linger and what hidden paths to follow.
\nThe main route takes about an hour, but the experience is open-ended: walk slowly, take detours and let the atmosphere of the city guide you. It\u2019s best done with headphones and a fully charged phone and while you can go alone, many find it even more powerful to share the experience with friends.

\nThe brilliant “Sculpture in Context” exhibition is returning to the National Botanic Gardens. In its 40th year, the exhibition will run from 04 Sept until 10 Oct.

\nEvery week, the Dublin City Council Culture Company organises cultural events in venues in Dublin. They are events in addition to the normal events in museums, galleries and other venues. All events are free, but access is by registration only. And these events are POPULAR!! \nIkea in Ballymun runs a variety of crafting, music and cooking workshops it is always worh checking out. The workshops are free and usually go for 45 minutes. They are always for children, but the age is often not fixed. There are specific Toddler and baby workshops at times as well.
