This weekend is the end of summer holidays for many families. Many schools reopen on Monday or at some other time in the coming week and it is the time when routines start creeping back in: uniforms are dusted off, lunch boxes are found at the back of cupboards and alarm clocks are set again. For parents and children, it\u2019s a busy few days of preparation and adjustment after a long break.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

The return to school brings a shift in pace, but it doesn\u2019t mean the end of enjoyment. There\u2019s still time this weekend to squeeze in a few more outings and luckily, Dublin isn\u2019t slowing down on free events. There is live music, there are markets and there are family-friendly events. +++ Heritage Week 2025<\/strong>
\nFrom Saturday 16 to Sunday 24 August, we will celebrate National Heritage Week in Ireland, a nationwide celebration coordinated by the Heritage Council.
\nIt started in 2005 with 500 events and has now grown into a huge programme of nearly 2,000 activities all over Ireland. In the four parts of Dublin (Dublin City, South County Dublin, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown and Fingal County) there will be over 300 free events and I have them all selected under this link https:\/\/www.getthislink.com\/HeritageWeek2025<\/a>

+++ Aer Lingus College Football Classic Game<\/strong>
\nThis weekend Dublin will be full with additional 24,000 American Football Fans who came to our city for the game between Kansas State University and Iowa State University, which is part of the 2025 College Football season. The game will take place in the Aviva Stadium on Saturday afternoon (unsurprisingly it is not free).
\nAt previous similar events, big events for the fans and everyone else took place in the city centre. \nIkea in Ballymun runs a variety of crafting, music and cooking workshops it is always worh checking out. The workshops are free and usually go for 45 minutes. They are always for children, but the age is often not fixed. There are specific Toddler and baby workshops at times as well.
