As May draws to a close, there\u2019s a gentle sense of anticipation in the air. The evenings are longer, the air feels warmer (on most days!) and the city is beginning to hum with summer energy. We\u2019ve made it through the temperamental spring weather and now every sunny spell feels like a promise of the months ahead. +++ STREET FEAST<\/strong>
\nStreet Feast is a neighbourhood festival all over Ireland where neighbours get together to share a meal and spend some time to meet and chat and learn to know each other. It is an event that is locally organised and not really an event you would go to unless there is a Street Feast organised in your neighbourhood. It is promoted by https:\/\/streetfeast.ie\/<\/a> and is now in its 15th year! The meetups can take place on Saturday or Sunday, in whatever way people arrange it.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

+++ SHORELINES – Exhibition<\/strong>
\nShorelines 2, is an exhibition that explores Dublin\u2019s varied seascapes. The paintings, drawings and etchings from artists in Ireland who are part of the Dublin Painting and Sketching Club\u2019s, show the life along our coastline.
\nThe exhibition will be on show in the Substation Gallery at the entrance to Dublin Port, on the corner of Alexandra Road. +++ International Literature Festival Dublin<\/strong>
\nThe festival is taking place from 16-25 May in Merrion Square Park. There are not many free events, but the ones I could find are listed above. If you want to soak in a bit of the atmosphere nevertheless, you can access the Festival Village for free. +++ Bealtaine: Celebrating Creativity as we age<\/strong>
\nThe Bealtaine festival is a month long national celebration of the “arts and creativity as we age”. The festival is nearly 30 years old and initially it was described as “Celebrating Creativity in Older Age”. But what is “older age”? Is it pension age? Over 65? Or over 70 or maybe later? Nobody really knows.
\nAt some point, a few years ago, the website said from Age 55. But most 55 year olds wouldn’t see themselves as “older age”.
\nThe description was changed to “celebration of the arts and creativity as we age”, but does that help? We all age from birth, no? So the exact target group remains unclear, but the goal of the organisation behind the festival “Age & Opportunity” is to get people who normally are reluctant, to get engaged with culture. Who cares about the exact age!
