This Saturday (08 March) marks International Women\u2019s Day, a global occasion to reflect on the incredible achievements of women throughout history and across the world. In Dublin, this day offers a special opportunity to celebrate the trailblazing women who have left an indelible mark on our city, our country and beyond. From writers and activists to leaders and innovators, Irish women have long been at the forefront of shaping culture, society and progress.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Mary Robinson, who made history as Ireland\u2019s first female president and later as a global advocate for human rights; Sister Stanislaus Kennedy, whose work in social justice has improved the lives of countless people in Ireland, and Mary Mulvihill, who I had the pleasure to meet and talk about events in Dublin, a science writer and broadcaster who passionately advocated for women in STEM. Mary, who passed away in 2013, dedicated much of her life to making science and mathematics accessible to all, especially inspiring young women to pursue careers in these fields.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

These women, among MANY others, paved the way for greater equality and continue to inspire new generations of Irish women to break barriers and lead change.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

+++ St Patrick’s Festival 2025<\/strong>
\nSt. Patrick’s day is around the corner! This year’s Festival will run from 15-17 March from Saturday until Monday. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be on Monday from 12:00 along the usual route\u00a0\u00a0and all details are here https:\/\/stpatricksfestival.ie\/events\/parade<\/a>
\nAfter the parade, the popular Ceili Mor, a traditional Irish dance, language and music event will take place from 14:00-17:00 on Merrion Square West (https:\/\/stpatricksfestival.ie\/events\/ceili<\/a>).

\nThe best about the St. Patrick’s Festival this year are the huge amount of events that take place on Sat (15 March) and on Sunday (16 March) throughout the city.
