We are in mid October and the end of the months is still a little bit away, but Halloween is already looming. Nearly all events will be on Thursday 31 October, but there are are Halloween Markets and gigs with Halloween themes that prepare us for it.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

If you have young kids, you will definitely “do” Halloween in some shape or form, but I guess when the “bring your kids to Trick or Treats” age is over or if you don’t have any kids, it is a different story.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

+++ Open House Dublin 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n

I mentioned it already two weeks ago, but I think I will have to mention it MUCH earlier next year, because the great attraction of having LOTS of drop-in tours in many many buildings is not there in the same way anymore. Now a lot more pre-booking is needed. Not the best development because it very much changes the character of Open House Dublin. In the past you could roam the city and then just join a queue at a building. A little bit like Culture Night, just for architectural culture. ;-) If you now have to pre-book most tours, then the festival character and the buzzling city experience will not be part of Open House Dublin anymore.<\/p>\n

Not a problem, but a pity. It also means that getting prepared for the event WELL in advance is becoming a lot more relevant.<\/p>\n

Can you still partake? YES! There are still a few drop-in events. Go to the What’s On section on
\nhttps:\/\/www.openhousedublin.com<\/a> and use the filter function there to filter for example for “Drop-in” events.<\/p>\n

Remember that Open House tours take place on Saturday and on Sunday. (Not the same buildings on both days, so filter by the relevant day as well.)

+++ Halloween at the National Botanic Gardens<\/strong>
\nThe yearly Pumpkin Decoration Competition takes place again at the National Botanic Gardens. Drop of is on Saturday 19 Oct between 11:00 and 16:00 and the display will be from 20 Oct – 03 Nov.
\nThere will also be Harvest Display in the Courtyard from 18 Oct to 03 Nov. And you can visit the Magical Plants Shows on 20 Oct and from 27-31 Oct in the Children’s Garden. \nIkea in Ballymun runs a variety of crafting, music and cooking workshops it is always worh checking out. The workshops are free and usually go for 45 minutes. They are always for children, but the age is often not fixed. There are specific Toddler and baby workshops at times as well.
