Openhouse starts on 12 October and runs until 19 October with the main event taking place on 18+19 October, not – as I incorrectly stated – on 12+13 October. Apologies for this mistake! Maybe you saw during the week that Dublin’s newly appointed “Night-time Economy Advisor” Ray O’Donoghue (formerly Festival Director of the Donegal music, surf and sea festival “Sea Sessions”) is planning to make Dublin a “leading night-time destination in Europe”.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

For many of us, reading this, will get our cynical self to raise its head: “Isn’t Dublin already leading? In drunkenness and trouble in the streets every weekend?” or “Instead of pouring resources into expanding nightlife options, maybe Dublin could start by making the streets safer during the day and in the early evening.” or “If this results in \u201cnight tourism,\u201d it\u2019s likely to attract exactly the kind of rowdy crowd that already floods Temple Bar”<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

+++ Open House Dublin<\/strong>
\nAfter getting it wrong last week, I have to stress again that the BIG weekend of Open House Dublin is next weekend 19+20 October. Go to the website and check what locations have walk-in tours. You just arrive and then wait in a queue untilk it is your turn to do the tour. At this stage i’d say that all tours that need booking are booked out, so the walkin-in tours are for you.
\nShould you plan to go to LOTS of venues? Some tours can be 1 hour or longer and then you need to get from one place to the next, so plan that in, incuding the waiting time and then don’t “over-pack” your day. ;-)
