This is the last Dublin Event Guide of 2023 and while we are not back to the pre-lockdown years as far as events are concerned, this year was better again than the previous two years. So the trend is in the right direction!<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Every so often I am asked why I am only including free events and the explanation is simple: Event organisers of free events do a tremendous job, but usually they don’t have the funds to promote their events. You, on the other side, are very interested in cultural events, but without the Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events), you would probably not know about half of what’s happening in Dublin. New Year’s eve in Dublin is always a bit of a disappointment. One day there will be a central fireworks again. Or maybe some central count down that is part of a free event? It is working in Sydney, London, Berlin, New York and many many other cities around the world, but Dublin struggles. With the Christmas at the Castle Christmas Market, we finally have a decent Christmas Market. \nOn Sun 07 Jan, the Moving Crib will close again for the next 11 months, so this is your last chance. In this Christmas season to visit it. The Moving Crib is a crib that stretches across the whole basement of the St Martin Apostolate at Parnell Square and in which the figures move in a endearing way. It is particularly suited for kids, but also adults will get something out of it. The Moving Crib is open from 11:00-17:30 daily with some exceptions (closed on New Year’s Day and closing already at 15:00 on New Year’s Eve). Admission is free. \n<\/strong>From Thursday 23 Nov Dublin Port Company presents the exhibition “Solidarity \u2013 The Dockers of Dublin Port”. It will be on show in the newly refurbished Substation building on Alexandra Road and will describe the story of the dockers in Dublin Port, a story of hardship but also one of humour and resilience. The exhibition is open every Thursday until Sunday from 11:30-15:30.
