This Saturday and Sunday Open House Dublin takes place. Open House Dublin is organised by the Irish Architecture Foundation and it therefore focuses on architecture in Dublin. I compared it to\u00a0\u00a0“Culture Night” for architecture before, because for two days many buildings in Dublin will be open for you to see and understand and these buildings are normally not accessible. At the buildings architects will explain during guided tours what the architects who created the building thought when planing it.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

It is a fascinating event and I learned a huge amount at previous Open House events. I visited Busaras, Liberty Hall, Dublin Airport, Department of Foreign Affairs, Criminal Court of Justice, Dr. Stephens’ Hospital, Airbnb Office, Conference Centre Dublin, former Central Bank and many many other buildings and often saw the “other side” of it through the eyes of the architect. Liberty Happ and Busaras are perfect examples. Two buildings that are often seen as not very attractive, but that reveal a hidden beauty when you understand what the original thinking was.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

This year a lot of buildings had to be pre-booked which takes a little away from the original idea of the Open House Dublin event. But there are still some Walk-in tours in locations like the Criminal Court of Justice, Marsh’s Library, the Irish Architectural Archive, Mansion House, Farmleigh House and St. Audeon’s Church. So give “Open House Dublin” a go and learn more about the hidden treasures of our city!<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\nThe Ideal Home Show is an exhibition for “homeowners, movers and improvers”. Suppliers of all home-related products will exhibit and sell their wares at this event.
\nThe show will take place in the Simmonscourt Hall of the RDS in Ballsbridge and it is open from Fri 20 – Sun 22 Oct (Fri 11:00-17:00\/Sat+Sun 10:00-18:00). +++ NEW WORLD OF PEACE CONCERT – Free ticket <\/strong>
\n“A New World of Peace” is a concert that is organised by the Sri Chinmoy Dublin Centre. The concert is described as a “unique experience of meditation in music” and as a “heartfelt offering to the public, spreading inspiration for a brighter future and a harmonious vision for all life on this planet”. It is part of an international tour (New York \u2013 London \u2013 Bristol) by the Oneness-World Ensemble, an orchestra of 50 musicians from all over the world, who will perform music composed by Indian spiritual teacher Sri Chinmoy.
\nIt will take place on 04 Nov at 19:30 in the RDS Concert Hall.
