Last week I wrote about 23 degrees at 23:00, today we had 11 degrees and rain at 21:00. The “normal” Ireland is truly back! Don’t get me wrong, I love Ireland, but even after allllll these years I am still not used to the weather here.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

If you don’t know what Culture Night is, then let me describe it: Imagine going out in Dublin on Friday night as a lover of culture and events and from 17:00-22:00 (or 23:00) ALL cultural venues, museums, and galleries are open with free admission and many special events. There will be an amazing positive buzz around the city with thousands and thousands of people enjoying it. Culture Night is one of the best events in Dublin every year. And if you have ANY opportunity to be part of it, go out on Friday and try it out<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

To what extent have Irish people shaped Caribbean societies and economies? And how have Irish-Caribbean relations evolved in the last century?

+++ CULTURE NIGHT 2023<\/strong>
\nCulture Night will take place again on Friday 22 September and it is a super event that you should not miss.
\nThere will be over 300 events at more than 250 venues in Dublin. You will find all events on https:\/\/www.culturenight.ie<\/a> but let me mention a few to give you an idea of what will happen in addition to open doors at museums, galleries and other cultural venues.
\nThere will be a Roller Disco at Dublin’s Central Plaza. At St. Michan’s Park, the historic Handball Alley will be recreated with a \u00a0performance by artist Francis Fay. On Meeting House Square acrobatics, afro-dance, twerk workshops and live music from Grooveline and Mo Cultivation will entertain you. At the Wood Quay Amphitheatre the Vogue Ball, Discovery Gospel Choir, Afro-Brazilian dance artist Alessandra Azevedo, burlesque performer Bonnie Boux and many others will perform. At Spencer Dock an aerial show and performances by the Tribe Fitness & Dance Studio will take place and there will be live music and family entertainment. Barnardo Square be the place for outdoor dance classes for Swing and Forr\u00f3. And Capel Street and Drury Street host pop-up music performances. And this is just 7 venues out of 250!

+++ Sculpture in Context 2023\u00a0<\/strong>
\nSculpture in Context is the largest sculpture exhibition in Ireland and it is running for 35 years already. It always takes place in the National Botanic Gardens and there will be more than 120 artists exhibiting. The exhibition will run from Thu 07 Sept to Fri 13 Oct.
\nThe National Botanic Gardens are worth a visit any time of the year, but when the Sculpture in Context exhibition is on, the gardens are EVEN more interesting.
\nThere will also some lectures in connection with the exhibition on Sat 09 & Sun 10 Sept from 15:00-16:00 and there will be guided tours of the outdoor sculptures on Sat 16, 23, 30 Sep & 07 Oct always at 11:00. \u00a0https:\/\/www.botanicgardens.ie\/event\/sculpture-in-context-2023\/<\/a><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

+++ Minaw Collective\u2019s 10 Year Anniversary Street Art Exhibition<\/strong>
\nThus exhibition is a celebration of a decade of artistic accomplishments of the all-female street artists collective who have made Dublin (and other places in Ireland) a much prettier, more inspirational and happier place. You might have never heard of the Minaw Collective, but you probably have seen their huge paintings on buildings. have a look at the gallery on their website www.minawcollective.com\/gallery to recognise some of the art that is full of energy and vibrancy.
\nThe exhibition will run throughout September and on Saturday 09 Sept from 13:00-18:00 you are invited to the launch and a spoken word poetry night at Phase Art Space, 27 Garville Lane, Rathgar, Dublin 6. +++ How It’s Made – Exhibition and Events Series<\/strong>
\nhow it\u2019s made: meitheal is an exhibition and series of events designed to consider how things are extracted from the natural world in modern society and artists reflections of that concept. The exhibition will run from 09-23 September and will be on show in 6 locations in Balbriggan, Co. Dublin.
\nArtists were paired with engineering experts to learn about how everyday objects are made (i.e. t-shirts, hamburgers, mobile phones, cars, Lego blocks). The artists were invited to create an artful manifestation of the process for a group exhibition, :meitheal (an old Irish term that describes how neighbours would come together to assist in the saving of crops or in other tasks)
\nThe event and exhibition locations are the Warehouse, Vault, Window, Hub and Castle in Balbriggan but the organisers don’t make it too easy to find addresses for the locations. You will have to go to https:\/\/reclaimingthearts.org\/<\/a> to find them.
