The last few days, I realised: It is definitely getting warmer!! Can you feel the approaching spring? This weekend will be a little windy, and next weekend will be relatively cold again, but there is an upwards trend in temperature. I so hope for a wonderful spring and even better summer! And the mid-term break always reminds me of summer. Why?, you wonder? Because of the mad impact on traffic in Dublin.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

It is super easy to get around when the kids are off school and on Monday, the traffic will go back to crazy level again. So summer means long summer holidays and that means much less traffic delays. That’s the link for me.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

It always puzzles me that the difference is so stark. Is really everybody at home when the kids don’t go to school? EVERYBODY? I understand some of the reasons for the change in traffic, but would love to understand more.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

The other great thing about approaching spring is that usually the number of events increases when we get out of winter. And that is always a good thing if you love events. I am hoping for some good and attractive (free) outdoor events this year.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

I mentioned last week that the 800th edition of this Dublin Event Guide is coming up soon (We are at 798 this week!) and I asked for suggestions about how you would suggest to celebrate this big day. It includes images from the 1860s up to the present, giving an authentic view of diverse Irish emigrant experiences across Canada. Collectively, the photographs reveal the stories people chose to remember and celebrate in their own lives.
\nSpeakers Dr Orla Fitzpatrick and Dr Deirdre Mulrooney will discuss the role photo albums play in revealing details about how people lived and worked that official histories often overlook, and also give an insight into a fascinating family history as depicted in the Photo Album of Irish: Canada exhibition.

\nThe “Housing Unlocked” exhibition is described as a celebration of innovation, optimism and imagination. Eight architect-led proposals will be presented that are intended to unlock the housing potential in our villages, towns and cities.
\nHousing Unlocked is a partnership between the Irish Architecture Foundation and The Housing Agency.

\nDublin City has a new app that allows us to discover iconic Dublin landmarks such as the famine statues, the CHQ building and more.
\nThe app is available to download for free via\u00a0https:\/\/doorsintodocklands.com\/<\/a>
\nAfter you got the app, you can point your phone at the landmarks and this will prompt the related images, videos and stories to pop up.
\nThe app uses Augmented Reality (AR), a mix of 3D graphics, animation and audio, to immerse users in the story of the city.
\nSeveral colourful characters from history will also appear in AR to tell their tales. These include Captain Bligh who surveyed Dublin Bay in the 1800s and Maggie Doyle, who was a docker’s daughter.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
