Hi all!<\/p>\n

A new year is meant to bring optimism, a positive outlook on all the opportunities and all the good changes this new year will bring and a rejuvenated eagerness to achieve more and better things than before.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

The second start of a new year with restrictions to our social life, crazily high new case numbers, no clearly visible light at the end of the tunnel and a significant reduction in online cultural events to show our resiliency at first seem to be the exact opposite.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

But there is good reason for hope and optimism!<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

I think I wrote it in my blog a long long time ago and I definitely said it in many conversations about our current situation, the ONLY way to get out of it is “normalisation”. This means that we need to accept and live with what many are currently still anxious and nearly panicked about. This is easier said than done, but the reduction of quarantine and isolation time and the changing rules for close contacts are the first steps in that direction.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\n

I am hopeful that by around April or May we will have cultural events again in a “normal” way. Gigs will return and hopefully even cultural festivals. Who is with me on that? +++ Last month of Science Gallery Dublin<\/strong>
\nAs it stands (and as far as we know), this is sadly the last months of the Science Gallery Dublin. In October it was announced that Trinity College, the university that claims it has “a responsibility to demonstrate leadership, drive research and provide inspiration to the rising generations”, will shut down the most inspiring museum and most accessible science&research entry point for young people in Dublin. No demonstrated leadership in that area anymore from TCD! And all this while the former Professor of Engineering & The Arts in Trinity College Dublin, Linda Doyle, is currently provost (that is the head of the university). The Science Gallery is the PERFECT combined Engineering & Arts space and the former Engineering & Arts professor shuts it down. What irony! For you, it means that you only have another 3 weeks to visit the very last exhibition, which is called “Bias: Built this way” and looks at how our human bias and prejudice even influences machines that use artificial intelligence. Opening hours are Wed 11:00-18:00 \/ Thu 11:00-19:00 \/ Fri 11:00-18:00 \/ Sat 12:00-17:00 and Sun 12:00-17:00. Gone are the long and flexible opening hours in the evening and the great Science Gallery shop and the Cafe are already closed, but use the chance to visit this last exhibition! https:\/\/dublin.sciencegallery.com\/bias<\/a><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\nThe Dublin Bowie Festival was meant to take place this weekend, but due to the current restrictions, it had to be postponed to April 2022. But to make sure that you still can celebrate your love and devotion to David Bowie, there will be interviews and music from the Dublin Bowie Festivals between 2017 and 2021 on the festival’s Facebook Page and YouTube channel. \nA new photo exhibition celebrating six decades of television in Ireland is now open at the National Photographic Archive in Temple Bar, marking RTE television turning 60 on New Year’s Eve 2021.

\nThe exhibition is a collaboration between RTE and the National Library of Ireland (NLI) and it explores entertainment, drama, sport, music, education and news and current affairs programming.
