As you know, I always keep a close eye on what is happening in the events scene in Dublin and there is finally some substantial movement at the moment.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 40,000 “unmasked” GAA attendees in Croke Park had an impact! The lobbying of the “Event Industry Association of Ireland” (EIAI) is pushing things in the right direction as well and the lack of adherence to<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

the current rules and recommendations on the streets of Dublin is also sending a strong signal to politicians in Ireland that something has to be done. And we know that they need a LOT of pushing before things move. ;-)<\/span><\/p>\n

It is difficult to explain why the Artane Boys Band is allowed to play in front of 40,000 people in a stadium, but if a brass band played in a park in front of 250 people it would be against the rules and if a 4 piece band played in a pub or at a wedding in front of 50 people it would also get the authorities on the case.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

We need some clear, justifiable and scientifically defendable rules and timelines and not the current complicated and random mess of rules and regulations.<\/span><\/p>\n

And there is hope now that either on 31 August (or in the next few weeks after that), these rules and regulations will get overhauled and simplified. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!!!<\/span><\/p>\n

This weekend should have been the weekend of the Ukulele Hooley in Dun Laoghaire, an outdoor, daytime event with a great vibe that usually attracted just a few a few hundred people. It is such a pity that everything fell by the wayside. Will 2022 bring these events back? That’s another thing to keep the fingers crossed for!<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

+++ SCULPTURE\u00a0IN CONTEXT – National Botanic Gardens<\/strong>
\nThe Sculpture\u00a0in Context exhibition is taking place again this year in the National Botanic Gardens. It is a great exhibition where sculptures are “planted” in lots of different places in the Botanic Gardens, making the park even more interesting. The exhibition will run from 02 Sept-15 Oct, so there is plenty of time to see it, but put it on your list, otherwise you will leave it to the last weekend (as I have done tooo often in the past ;-) ). http:\/\/www.sculptureincontext.com\/ Admission to the National Botanic Gardens is always free and opening hours are 10:00-17:00 every day of the week.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

+++ National Gallery tickets available here<\/strong>
\nThe National Gallery is usually free anyway, but in current times you will have to book tickets to get access and you have to enter the building on the Merrion Street side. Tickets are available here: https:\/\/www.nationalgallery.ie\/visit-us\/book-your-ticket<\/a> The National Gallery also is running events again and because the events have limited number of spaces, they can book out relatively fast, at least before I can write about the events, so check out the events 1-2 weeks in advance here https:\/\/www.nationalgallery.ie\/whats-on<\/a> and then book tickets for them.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

+++ Visit Dublin Castle for free<\/strong>
\nUntil the end of 2021, entry to Dublin Castle is free for all visitors. You will be able to visit the State Apartments on a self-guided tour. There are currently no guided tours and therefore the Medieval Undercroft and Chapel Royal are not accessible. Opening hours are Mon-Sun & Bank Holidays: 09:45-17:45 (last admission 17:15). Tickets can be booked at https:\/\/dublincastle.admit-one.eu\/?p=calendar&ev=SELFGUIDE<\/a> for free there will also a limited number of tickets available at the ticket desk.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
