There were BIG announcements on Friday! A new plan for going forward has been generated by the government\u00a0and it has a lot of positive news in it. Let’s hope that it gets improved even further and that it is valid longer than any of the previous plans.<\/span><\/p>\n

  • 07 June: Outdoor service in restaurants and pubs \/ Outdoor events up to 100 people \/ cinemas and theatres will reopen \/ weddings up to 25 people \/ outdoor sports matches will be back \/ gyms, swimming pools, leisure centres will reopen for individual training \/ drive-in cinema and drive-in bingo can take place<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 05 July: Indoor service in restaurants and pubs \/ up to 50 indoor attendees in most venues \/ up to 200 outdoor attendees in most venues (up to 500 in stadiums) \/ weddings up to 50 people \/ indoor training, exercise and dance activities can recommence in pods of up to six<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 19 July: Non-essential international travel is allowed again (hopefully the outrageously priced tests at Dublin Airport will also soon go or at least get cheaper)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

In all this, you don’t see “live music” mentioned anywhere and regrettably, live music is not permitted when pubs open .. or at weddings. Let’s hope that that changes soon as well!! Our bands and solo performers need help!<\/span><\/p>\n

+++ CRUINNIU NA NOG for kids and teenagers<\/strong>
\nOn 12 June another edition of Cruinni\u00fa na n\u00d3g will take place. It is a day of “free creativity for children and young people” – as the tag line says – and targets everybody under the age of 18. There will be lots of free events and you can already find them on https:\/\/cruinniu.creativeireland.gov.ie\/<\/a> The reason why I mention it already is because the Gardiner Street Gospel Choir, with which I am involved, is inviting to a Virtual Choir event. The participant (Age: 10-17) will learn a song and afterwards video themselves singing the song. All entries will then be combined to form a Virtual Choir. The song is called “Best Day of my Life” and is a great high-energy song that is a lot of fun to learn. If you have or know kids\/teenagers who might be interested, they can find out all details on https:\/\/gsgc.info<\/a> (Registration is required). Participation is free.
\nThe self-recordings have to be submitted on 01 June so that the Virtual Choir can be created before the launch on 12 June, but is still not too late to take part.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

++ Pilot events announced by the government<\/strong>
\nIn the coming months, there will be a number of “test entertainment events” that will be organised by the Department of Arts, Tourism, Culture and Arts. It is not clear yet if there will be special access restrictions or if people attending will be in any way tracked after attending, but I am sure we will find out more soon. All these events will exceed the max number of attendees allowed at that time. There are seven events in Dublin and also events in Cork, Limerick, Kildare and Killarney. The events in Dublin are:

\nFri 11 June: Leinster v Dragons Rugby in RDS (1200 ppl)
\nFri 11 June: Shamrock Rovers v Finn Harps football in Tallaght Stadium (1000 ppl)

\nFri 25 June: Shamrock Rovers v Drogheda football in Tallaght Stadium (1000 ppl)

+++ Free admission to ALL Irish Heritage Sites managed by OPW<\/strong>
\nThe OPW (Office of Public Works) manages most Irish Heritage sites, including Dublin Castle, Kilmainham Gaol, Rathfarnham Castle, Kilkenny Castle, Br\u00fa Na B\u00f3inne\/Newgrange Visitor Centre and many others. To hel with the recovery and getting back to normality, the Minister of State with responsibility for the OPW, Patrick O\u2019 Donovan has announced on Friday that admission to all sites will be free until the end of the year.
\nIn normal times this would be super news and I would celebrate it. But at the moment we still are in different times. Some sites are closed (e.g. Kilmainham Gaol), other sites have limited visitor numbers and guided tours are also still cancelled. So the celebration is a little dampened, BUT, there is a real possibility that all sites will open before the end of year AND that guided tours will re-start again and once that happens, then this free access until the end\u00a0of the year is great news.
