Hi all!<\/p>\n

Have you read about Level 4.995 in the government’s plans? No? Well, that’s what the great improvement will be in 3.5 weeks. :-( At least twice a week, the Taoiseach is working on conditioning us so that we won’t expect any significant improvement in April. (Here is an example from RTE.ie<\/a>.) And – in a way – I am doing nothing better than “condition” you to expect bad news. But to be honest, I know some people who are at breaking point, –\u00a0financially and mentally – and who pin ALL their hope on the “big change” on 05 April, no matter what the indicators are. Yes, be optimistic about the next few months, but be an optimistic realist or a realistic optimist. :-)
\nWe will leave the times of restrictions behind us, that is absolutely certain, but the marathon is not over yet.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, let us enjoy ourselves as much as we can! I keep saying it week after week and I am very serious: Do not give up on online events! I know there is a degree of fatigue with them, but they will keep us going for another bit and when we can go back to real-life events, it might be the start of hybrid events. I “went” to a few Enterprise Week events last week and the ONLY reason I was able to go to four of them (REALLY interesting events!) was because they were online with NO travel requirements. One was in Donegal, another in Dun Laoghaire. In normal times I would\u00a0have missed all four.<\/p>\n

So, hold out and keep “going” to online events and keep smiling! :-)<\/p>\n

This weekend is Mother’s Day AND on Wednesday is also St. Patrick’s Day. All official St. Patrick’s Day events are online this year and, for many of you, Mother’s Day also has to be an online\u00a0event. But whatever you do, do NOT forget Mother’s Day! ;-)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

The scaling down of weekday events wasn’t overly successful last week, so I will have to do better today and next week I will be on a three day full-day\u00a0online seminar, so the Dublin Event Guide might even be slimmer. But don’t worry, you will get some suggestions for free events! ;-)<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

The sad dog from last week has been replaced with a much happier dog this week! Thanks a lot for the much needed donations. I very much appreciate your help!<\/p>\n

St. Patrick’s Festival Week 2021 – Hmmmm!<\/strong>
\nIs it St. Patrick’s Festival Week and while we didn’t expect much from St. Patrick’s Festival 2021, considering the severe restrictions, it is even worse than expected. There could have been talks and discussions and live gigs and other distributed events, but the organisers decided that a TV Station that sends Irish content from 09:30-22:30 every day is good enough for this year.<\/p>\n

It would be surprising if many of you will spend a lot of time watching St. Patrick’s TV at https:\/\/stpatricksfestival.ie\/spftv<\/a>\u00a0It is not that the content of the TV station is bad throughout, there are definitely good programmes included, so check it out, but it watching a St. Patrick’s TV station just has NOTHING to do with an event or a festival. After billion of hours of Netflix and ordinary TV, another TV station from 12-17 March will not excite anybody. But maybe I am wrong and you love it! If\u00a0that’s the\u00a0case, please let me know!<\/p>\n

One good idea is the Irish Music Magazine event on St. Patrick’s Day:\u00a0Form 09:00-01:00, so for a total of 16 hours (!!) you can listen to Irish Music performances. There are not many big names on the line-up –\u00a0John Spillane is probably the most famous of all contributors – but good music doesn’t necessarily need famous performers. The full schedule is in the Wednesday section above, so check it out!<\/p>\n

FACEBOOK IS BROKEN :-(<\/strong>
\nFacebook has managed it finally to break their platform completely. I use Facebook quite a lot to find free events for you, but this week is has all gone town the drain. If you select the location “Dublin” and the timeframe Sat+Sun, then you will find out that NO events are taking place. :-O
\nThe whole mess started when they moved to the ugly new layout. Lots of features stopped working and the events section is getting worse instead of better.
\nLast week at least a few bits were still working, this week they are broken as well. And as you know, nobody in Facebook is intersted in what an awful state their application is. Infuriating!!!!<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
