Hi all!<\/span><\/div>\n
\nHow are you? And how is your mental state? These are tough times. After 9 months of restrictions to to our normal lives, now we see infection numbers that seemingly get more and more worrying by the day. For some of us, this causes a serious amount of anxiety and stress. Others are frustrated or upset and others again are just fed up with it all. <\/span><\/p>\n

Everyone deals differently with it. If you feel a certain way, you can be absolutely certain that there are other people that also feel that way. That might not be much help at first, but you are not alone!!<\/span><\/p>\n

As individuals we can not fix the situation on our own, but as a community of people we can! Some people claim that we need to stop having contact with others, but that is not correct. We only need to stop having bad contacts. The virus doesn’t spread between non-infected people, only from infected to non-infected people. <\/span><\/p>\n

There are a number of ways to avoid risky contacts and one (But only one of a few!) is to have Antigen tests available. In Germany you can get them now for EUR 11 in a pharmacy and it gives you a significantly higher chance to avoid others if you test yourself and are found positive. The result only “lasts” one day and it is not a 100% guarantee (“only” about 90%), but neither the PCR nor the vaccination is a 100% guarantee. So why don’t we increase our chances with quick Antigen tests? I would love to know! <\/span><\/p>\n

With mid February being mentioned as an end of the current restrictions we have another minimum of 5 weeks of lockdown. But quickly some politicians mentioned END of February or beginning of March. That would be another 7 weeks and EVEN end of MARCH was mentioned. :-O <\/span><\/p>\n

We will HAVE to find a way to keep our sanity!! The Dublin Event Guide will NOT be able to keep you sane, but I am trying to help as much as possible to tell you about things you can do, so that the ceiling in your cell doesn’t collapse on top of you. But you will HAVE to take action! <\/span><\/p>\n

Go to virtual events! Go out for walks or runs or cycles. Talk to others. Meet up virtually on Zoom or Google Meet or Facebook Rooms etc. And do learn something new every day. Imagine just 15 minutes of learning something new per day, amounts to nearly a full 8 hours of learning at the end of the month. That’s a SIGNIFICANT amount of learning!<\/span><\/p>\n

So, this Dublin Event Guide is again full of suggestions and ideas for things you can do in January. Enjoy and if you want to tell me what you did and how you enjoyed it, just reply to this mail. <\/span><\/p>\n

1) Marlay Park Lights Stay Up! <\/span>
\nChristmas is NOT over yet! All over Dublin I see brave people who resisted the push by the guilt-tripers and left their Christmas lights up on their houses for another bit. There is NOTHING wrong with it. The 06 Jan deadline for Christmas decoration is totally arbitrary (Mammies of old needed to have order and Christmas decoration after 06 Jan was not order enough!) and in Winter we certainly can do with a bit if cheery lights. So “leave them up” is my motto, especially this year! <\/span>
\nIt is great to see that Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is agreeing and joining in! <\/span>
\nThey had a great “illuminated forest walk” in Marlay Park for Christmas and have decided to leave the lights up until Fri 29 Jan. It is a one-kilometer trail through the trees (fully accessible for wheelchairs and buggies) and is an oasis of calm beneath the twinkling lights. The lights are on from Monday to Friday from 16:00-20:00. (Grange Road car park will be open until 8pm).<\/span>

2) Magical Castle Neuschwanstein – Virtual Tour<\/span>
\nHave you heard of or seen the most magical castle in Germany? It is called “Neuschwanstein” and is in the South of Germany in Bavaria. Have a look here<\/span> https:\/\/www.airpano.com\/360photo\/neuschwanstein-germany-virtual-tour\/<\/a>
\nThe castle is closed at the moment like, but if you want to plan a trip (The waiting time for tickets can be long), thn you will find all necessary details here<\/span> https:\/\/www.neuschwanstein.de\/englisch\/tourist\/<\/a>
\nLast night it was -13 degrees cold at Neuschwanstein, so if you plan to go there, WRAP UP! ;-)<\/span><\/p>\n

3) London Tour <\/span>
