No more Social Distancing! But hear me out!
\n– Limited events this Bank Holiday Weekend –

We need to do something together<\/u>! We need to stop that nonsense of “Social Distancing” and I need your help! Noooo, don’t worry, I am not suggesting to break rules and risk your and your family and friend’s life. ALL I am asking is to change how you talk about!<\/span>
\nI don’t know who invented the term “Social Distancing”, but it is a bad bad bad term! The correct term should be “Physical Distancing” and nothing else and we should all use the correct term. You might think that a word doesn’t make much of a difference, but the fear and worry that has been created by authorities world wide (instead of just giving us the known facts) will be made worse by telling us to SOCIALLY distance ourselves from our friends and colleagues and even from our family. We do NOT have to distance ourselves socially to stay safe and be 2m apart. Just keep a PHYSICAL distance of 2 meters and all is good!<\/span>
\nI will from now on ban the word “Social Distancing” from by vocabulary and will replace it with “Physical Distancing”. Who is with me? Let me know below if on Facebook and please talk to your friends about it! (Ohh, and if you disagree, please also let me know!)<\/span><\/p>\n

We need to stand together…while being physically apart!<\/span><\/p>\n

Standing physically together will take quite another while, though, as it seems at the moment. IF pubs open in a bit more than a week’s time and it is a big IF, then they won’t be the same as pubs we knew before. And currently I can’t see events resuming to their normal level for another long while. But at the same time I also see that online events have decreased quite significantly. So the “cultural gap” is getting bigger at the moment, rather than smaller and it concerns me a lot!<\/span><\/p>\n

This weekend is another bank holiday weekend and it is traditionally one of the quietest bank holiday weekends in the year. 2020 is not a normal year, but the number of events on Saturday and Sunday does stay below of what I had expected and on Monday it is REALLY quiet. I am SURE next week will be better again!<\/span><\/p>\n

Ans some news about a BIG event: Culture Night, one of my favourite events every year, will take place (on 18 September from 16:00-23:00) but it will be largely online and for many real life events pre-booking will be required and\/or there will be significant limitations. So, we need to wait and see if an online version of Culture Night can attract anywhere close to the number of people that enjoy the real life version normally. I will do my best, though, to continue the Dublin Event Guide, but I really need some feedback from you to hear if you still use and benefit from it even with all the restrictions. I found a nice amount of events for you again this week, but I never know if you are able and willing to make use of these event offerings.<\/span><\/p>\n

I found a few more things to keep you going or that you might find interesting:<\/p>\n

1) Daily Tours in National Botanic Gardens<\/span>
\nThe daily tour in the National Botanic Gardens has resumed and while it is limited to outside areas only (the glass houses are all closed at the moment), it is definitely a good reason for visiting the gardens again.<\/span>
\nThe tour takes place at 11:30 and you need to book tickets. You won’t have much luck with short term bookings (both tours for this weekend are booked out, for example) but if you can plan a little in advance, there should be no problem to get tickets….even for an upcoming weekend.<\/span>
\nThe tours are currently (!) free as part of the government stimulus package. Go to<\/span> https:\/\/www.eventbrite.ie\/e\/114674891688<\/a> and then “Select A Date” to choose your preferred date.<\/span><\/p>\n

2) Online Courses – Special Offer<\/span>
\nDuring the Covid lockdown, enrollments in Udemy courses increased by 425%! Wow! What did you learn during that time? In August most Udemy courses will cost between EUR 10.99 and 12.99 again, so it is not too late yet to learn something new.
