What an great trick we pulled off last week! ;-) Thank you! 65 of you left some feedback underneath the Dublin Event Guide post on Facebook and that relatively simple action, got us to reach more than 15,000 MORE people than in previous weeks! When Facebook thinks a post is in demand, then it will show lots more people!<\/span>
\nCan we do that again?? Would be really great to spread the word about the “Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)” as far as possible and to win against Facebook’s algorithm. ;-)<\/span><\/p>\n

This weekend we should ALL be in Merrion Square!! In normal times, this would have been the weekend of the Laya Healthcare City Spectacular, the BEST family-friendly festival in Dublin. Unsurprisingly it had to be cancelled, but the cultural (and economic)\u00a0 damage this virus (or maybe more so, the applications of the Irish Government’s rules!?) has on us is HUGE!<\/span><\/p>\n

Do we have enough of a public discussion about our post-Covid society? What do we want Ireland to look like and what price are we prepared to pay for it in economical terms but also in human terms?? Everything has its price! Keeping the pubs closed, will cost something and opening the pubs will possibly also cost something. How much are YOU prepared to pay in money and in freedom? It seems to me that nobody is really openly discussing this. We expect the government to know what to do, but they do NOT (and how could they!). We trust doctors or scientists for public behaviour policies, but they are also only guessing and assuming. We will HAVE to step up if we want to be heard!!!<\/span><\/p>\n

And we are on the way to a long list of free events again. Are you ready for it?<\/span><\/p>\n

But just before we get there, I will have to beg again: The Dublin Event Guide is entirely crowdfunded. The occasional company sponsorship helps a lot, but doesn’t cover all the bills for the year. 1) Virtual Tour of the week
\nThis week the National Museum and the National Gallery will both fully open again. So I would like to remind you of their great permanent exhibitions and restarting event programmes.
\nOn the Museum At Home Pages of the National Museum (https:\/\/www.museum.ie\/en-ie\/museum-at-home<\/a>) you can see the collections of the four National Museums (Archaeology, Decorative Arts & History, Natural History and Country Life). Have a look at some of the exhibits to get a taste for the museums and hopefully visit the live museum again soon!

2) Online Courses
\nDuring the Covid lockdown, enrollments in Udemy courses increased by 425%! Wow! What did you learn during that time? \nKobe Bryant, the brilliant basketball player, who died just 41 years of age in January 2020 in a helicopter crash, was not “just” a basketball player, but also was inspirational, intelligent and analytical and he wrote a much praised book that was only released after his accident.
