Here is the second edition of my new Event Guide. :-)<\/p>\n
This weekend sees another highlight of the “free summer outdoor event season” and I strongly recommend to go there. It was great last year!<\/p>\n
From Friday (tomorrow) until Sunday the Street Performance World Championship will take place in Merrion Square.<\/p>\n
Every day from 12:00 until 19:00 top class street performers from all over the world will show their street performance shows in Merrion Square.<\/p>\n
This year is the second time this event is taking place and it was absolutely amazing what the performers did last year.<\/p>\n
The winner last year was the “Space Cowboy” and if you have only very little time to watch any of the events, then you should at least make time for one of his performances (Saturday: 13:30-14:30 on Pitch 4, 15:30-16:30 on Pitch 2 and 17:30-18:30 on Pitch 4, Sunday: 14:00-15:00, 16:00-17:00 and 18:00-19:00). Fire, knives, a 3m unicycle and even sword-swallowing are part of his performance!<\/p>\n
Entry is free, but the performers do collect money after each performance, so don’t come empty handed. They are working hard for it!<\/p>\n
By the way, the story about this “World Championship” is that a few years ago, two Irish guys came up with the idea to organise a street performance event and after a good preparation ran the event the first time last year. They decided to call it “World Championship” – why not, there is no other such competition – and are running it as a competition. To take part the performers have to apply to be considered and based on their application and a DVD with their performance the best will be invited to come.<\/p>\n
Last year thousands of people saw the performances over two days. This year another day has been added and all together there will be 120 (!!!) performances.<\/p>\n
So, don’t miss this event!<\/p>\n
