Hi all!<\/p>\n
Last weekend was an interesting one for me. How would you feel if someone told you that you will have to be inside in a seminar room for more than 10 hours every day over the whole weekend and some more (from Friday until Tuesday) AND that you will even have to pay money for this pleasure? Yes, even in Irish spring, this is a prospect that would make many turn away. :-) But here is what might change it for some: How about if the training was hugely interesting, very exciting and successful and if it even had the potential to be life changing? Would you then consider it? Well, I can tell you for me, it was an amazing five days. All the studying beforehand has paid of and training and exam went well and I am now certified as NLP Practitioner and as Results Coach and additionally have certificates in Neurological Re-Patterning and Ericksonian Hypnosis. The hard work has paid off and the first step in an interesting new direction is made. I don’t plan to change my job, but I am happy to add new skills to my portfolio. :-) The good news is, that not even my close friends have to worry that I will feel compelled to “therapise” everything that moves. However, if you are interested in what this is all about and if you want to deal with things that hold you back or need some help in setting and achieving the goals you should reach, let me know. \nSome of the king’s wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the king for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded.
\nAfter the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse laying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the king indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway.
\nWe all have choices of how to deal with the boulders in our life and if we make the effort to move them out of the way, we will find the treasure that lies underneath. So, use the obstacles as an opportunity to improve your path into the future and face and remove the boulders from your life.

\nThis weekend is a little all over the place for me. I had some plans to leave Dublin behind for the weekend to enjoy the country, but then the plans were drastically changed on me. But on Sunday I will still be in Galway at least for a little while because two friends, Orla and Brian, are getting married (Congrats!). With all changed plans now, I might go to Bray to the Jazz festival on Saturday. Then on Sunday early morning I will drive to Galway and will come back again in the evening. If I were in Dublin, I would definitely try out he Craftymarket and the Black Market just to see what and how interesting they are. On Monday I might go to the Kart City Sunday (and bank holiday) market. The weekend is not the busiest as far as events are concerned, but there is still a steady “supply” of free things to do. \nFor a new TG4 show tat will be recorded in May in the RTE Studios in Dublin, audience members are required. The show is an Irish Dancing competition and Adare Productions are describing it in this way “The heart of Traditional Irish dance still beats strongest in Ireland and it is here that the elite troupes and dancers are to be found – and now it\u2019s time to find out who is the best! – The programme will pit the best traditional Irish dancers from around the country against each other.”
\nThere are tickets available for a total of shows in May and the dates are 20, 21, 24, 25, 27, 28 May. With two shows (13:15 and 19:15) on 21, 24, 25 and 27 and only one show on the other two dates (20 May: 17:15, 28 May: 13:15). \nSadly the Natural Museum in Kildare Street, a fascinating museum!, has now been closed for a number of years first after the collapse of a staircase and then for some renovation works. I am not sure, but have doubts that this work had been carried out and I am not sure if it will ever open again. To show at least some of the content, a Natural Museum exhibition is now in the National Museum, Collins Barracks. The topic is “The Dead Zoo At Large \u2013 Treasures of the Natural History Museum” and the exhibition will open today.<\/p>\n
\nFrom 01 May – 31 May the Bealtaine Festival 2009 will take place. “Bealtaine is the national arts festival celebrating creativity in older age. Join over 55,000 people all over the country, taking part in events involving music, art, dance, cinema, writing, theatre, heritage and more. Bealtaine is your chance to try something new, to share your talents or to come back to something you haven’t done for years. So come and join in the celebrations!” The festival is specifically for the “older” generation and while “older” is not clearly defined, it seems that the minimum suggested age is 55. The Dublin Event Guide Community has an average age that is somewhere in the 30s and – unfortunately – the information about the existence of this Event Guide is only slowly spreading amongst the slightly older age groups. I will therefore remind you of the Bealtaine Festival and only mention some National Museum and Hugh Lane Gallery events. \nBealtaine is the May-time arts festival celebrating creativity in older age. The theme for the festival in 2009 is ‘Go and open the door’ from the poem ‘The Door’ by Miroslav Holub. The National Museum of Ireland \u2013 Decorative Arts and History at Collins Barracks is partaking in the festival this year by asking the older members of our community to \u2018open the door\u2019 to the Museum through a series of talks, workshops and tours throughout the month of May.
\nThe highlight of the festival at Collins Barracks is a performance of \u2018The Wilder Wisdom of Auld Ones\u2026 Stories, Legends and Poetry inspired by the Cailleach\u2019 performed by Actor and Storyteller Nuala Hayes and Harpist and Composer, Anne-Marie O\u2019Farrell. This performance tells the stories of the Cailleach, the wise woman or hag of Irish Mythology which are full of mystery and the power, wisdom and imagination of older people. No booking is necessary for individual attendees but groups should make reservations through the bookings office.

\nSean Bryan, a Dublin graffiti artist, also known as KONK, has notoriety on the streets, budding fame in the art world and a long arrest sheet after he was caught for painting street art illegally. KONK has worked with Fulbright scholar Steve Powers on several paintings and most recently with Will St Leger on his Art Raid project last October (2008). A special arts event of Art Raid was put together by urban artist Will St Leger to help raise needed money for Sean\u2019s (KONK) court case as he was facing imprisonment but he received 240 hours community service with a suspended sentence. The run is a charity run for a Cancer Support Centre, but oddly the same discrimination as in June happens with this run. In June only women are allowed to take part in the Women’s Mini Marathon. This week’s run is called Men’s Mini-Marathon.
