Welcome to another edition of Dublin’s only Event Guide for Free Events!<\/p>\n

If you only subscribed to the Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events), you might get a false impression this week and if you are a regular reader you might be confused a little. This is what this newsletter\/e-zine is: The Dublin Event Guide is full of free events, week after week. It is completely free (donations are VERY welcome, but no pre-condition to receiving this newlsetter\/e-zine) and it is absolutely brilliant ;-). These are all important aspects of the Dublin Event Guide. But there is something different this week: The Dublin Event Guide is not normally arriving in your Inbox early on Friday, but rather late in the afternoon or even in the evening. Enjoy the super early arrival this week and be assured that it is still Friday morning DESPITE the fact that you already have received this week’s edition. ;-)<\/p>\n

The reason for the wonderfully early arrival is that I will be away this weekend and already started on Monday working on this week’s edition. But in a normal week I unfortunately can’t do that. The Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events) is a 1-man operation and is a labour of love (i.e. non-commercial spare time activity). Normally I start working on it on a Thursday evening and then work – non-stop through the night – until it is finished, approx. 24 hours later on Friday afternoon\/evening. This is not ideal, I know, because you all would like to get the newsletter earlier than it is currently sent. But until someone wants to sponsor the Dublin Event Guide to the level that I can give up my day job, it will have to stay like that. ;-) Until then I am just looking for very very small donations to keep the project on the road.<\/p>\n

Maybe I should link donations and sending time? I could do this: The more money people send to help with the cost, the earlier the newsletter will arrive. Interesting idea! But what if nobody donates anything in a week? The newsletter won’t get to you at all then? Nooo, that doesn’t work. ;-)<\/p>\n

This section is intended to provide some help in picking and choosing from the huge number of events by sharing with you what I will\/might or would do. This is not a “best of\u2026” list and if an event is not listed here, it by no means implies that the event is not interesting. Instead my “picks” are just based on my personal preferences. All events mentioned here are described in detail further down<\/em><\/p>\n

This is the weekend of big concerts. Robbie Williams in the Lansdowne Road \/ Aviva Stadium on Friday. Neil Young in the RDS on Sat and Bon Jovi in Slane also on Sat. The steeply priced Taste of Dublin also takes place and then there is the non-free Dalkey Book Festival.<\/p>\n

With all these non-free events, the free events have suffered a little. But there still is lots to do. I will be on holidays for a few days, so I will let you pick your own things and will make less suggestions than usually. But you should look at Bloom’s Day if you are interested (if not, you might agree with me in the THIS IS ODD SECTION). Then there is the IFI Open Day with lots of free cinema. The Viking Festival takes place in Clontarf on Saturday and is particularly suitable for the children.<\/p>\n

Next week then, look out for the Bike Week events and on next Friday (21 June) for the National Muisc Day Events.<\/p>\n
