Dublin Event Guide 763: Festival City! – Stoneybatter Festival, Smithfield Fleadh, Super Soul Sunday, Dublin Choral Festival, Pride Festival

June 18th, 2022

Dublin Event Guide (for free events)

Festival City!

Stoneybatter Festival, Smithfield Fleadh, Super Soul Sunday, Dublin Choral Festival, Pride Festival

Hi all!

Two weeks ago I told you the story of the first (and second) “Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)”. It was just me sending a mail to 10 friends, telling them what I will do at the coming weekend.

In a way it would be cool to get back that that again. Short, sweet, just less than a handful of events, only the best of the best!

But since my group of friends (apologies if that is getting into your personal space a bit much, I mean it in a good way) grew to more than 24,000 people,

that means that also the interests and preferences are so widely spread that you are probably less interested in what _I_ will do, but want to know what is available.

On top of that, if we all went to the same place, it would be kinda busy….but also cool!

Find all details about the Super Soul Sunday (Sat 19 June) in the bottom section of this newsletter.

Imagine if we ALL met in one place! ;-) Actually, it would still be cool if only SOME of you came. So if you want to meetup with me, then come this Sunday to the Super Soul Sunday in Mountjoy Square at Gardiner Street in Dublin 1 . It will run from 12:30-18:00. Friends of mine are organising it and the Gardiner Street Gospel Choir, who I am part of in a technical role, is singing. It will be a GREAT event with 13 of the best Gospel choirs singing at this event.

You will find me there from around 13:30 and if you want us to meet, send a mail with subject SOULSUNDAY (in capitals) to dublineventguide@gmail.com with your phone number in the mail, I will call you and we arrange a meeting point to say “Hi!”. ;-)

Donations in June:
EUR 328

(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.)

If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.

The counter here shows the current donation status. By the end of the month EUR 200 will be subtracted to pay the bills. If more money has been donated, the rest will be carried forward. If donations have stopped below the EUR 200, the missing amount will be carried over.

Last week the great people that helped with donations presents were Shengjie and John ! Thanks a lot! You are really appreciated and your donation is essential to keep the Dublin Event Guide alive. :-)

With the above counter you know at all times where we stand and when donating is needed. Donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and all donors will also get some additional bonuses. The first of those bonuses is described above.

Here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 3. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.

To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb or now also revolut.me/joergbrb
(If possible, please send your full name and e-mail address as a message with the payment via PayPal or Revolut so that I can tell you about bonuses for donors when available.)

To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?

Thank you!!

+++ “Children of Ireland” Refugee Day Family Workshop
Sun 19 June 2022 – 14:00-15:00 – EPIC, chq Building, Custom House Quay, Dublin 1 – Adm: Free (each ticket covers a family)
Are you part of a new Irish community?
Join us for World Refugee Day to celebrate the contributions of children and in particular migrant children to our Emerald Isle. Suitable for families with children of all ages, we’ll do a migrant story exchange, where we’ll share objects from our lives that mean something to us, our identity and story. Then we’ll take part in a short art workshop, where we’ll collaborate to create a vision of our Ireland of the future.
As part of the workshop, each family that participates will get free access to EPIC the Irish Emigration Museum.
Note: each child participant should bring an object that they are willing to have photographed and to speak about. epicchq.com/event/children-of-ireland-refugee-day-family-workshop/ (Booking required)

+++ EPIC Explorers: Make an Exhibition Summer Camp (5 days – Age 7-12)
11-15 July 2022 – 09:30-13:00 daily – EPIC, chq Building, Custom House Quay, Dublin 1 – COST: 5 day ticket EUR 100.00 per child
Do you have what it takes to be next big (or little) curator? Escape the house and discover the amazing history of how the Irish have travelled the world in our EPIC Explorers Imagination Camp: ‘Make an Exhibition’ edition!
Your day will begin with a one hour interactive workshop, where you’ll learn fun facts about how the Irish have explored sea, land, air and space and meet a whole host of famous figures. Then, comes the difference – inspired by what we’ve discovered, we’ll use our ingenuity and creativity to create our own exhibitions! Using your imagination alongside our how-to guide, you’ll put your creative prowess to the test to design a mini-exhibition at EPIC, featuring all your favourite parts from the workshops, such as hot air balloons, space shuttles and more.
On the final day, we’ll arrange our exhibitions, inviting friends and family to see our hard work come alive before their eyes!
Designed to get kids engaging with history in a fun, interactive way where they also learn life skills, we’ll craft planes alongside aviator Lady Mary Heath, make camp with jungle explorer Cynthia Longfield, dive into the ocean with John Phillip Holland, create cars with Henry Ford, set sail with William Lamport, among much more! More information and tickets on epicchq.com/event/epic-explorers-make-an-exhibition-summer-camp/ (Booking required)

+++ Super Soul Sunday – Gospel Rising Music Festival 19 June 2022
Super Soul Sunday, a Gospel Rising Music Festival event is back with lots of Gospel Choirs from all over Ireland performing in Mountjoy Square, Dublin’s North East Inner City Georgian park on Saturday 19 June from 12:30 to 18:00.

I will definitely be there and I hope to see many of you for this great day with really good music. ;-) The last Super Soul Sunday was in 2019 and this video shows how great it was www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dkGyaJKfbg

Supported by the North East Inner City Initiative of Dublin City, the outdoor concert is free and will feature live performances from many of Ireland’s best, upbeat and gospel style choirs. Food trucks, children’s entertainment, picnic tables & necessary facilities are all available in the park for the festival. There are also gospel choir music workshops being run (supported by the Dublin City Council Arts Office) including an experienced singer’s workshop with Audrey Mattis and a workshop specifically designed for those living with dementia, their families, friends, supporters and carers. More details are on www.gospelrising.com

+++ Soapbox Science (Sat 18 June)

+++ LEARN A NEW SKILL WITH ONLINE COURSES
Is there ever a wrong time for learning a new skill or enhancing what you are already interested in? Maybe it is a language or an instrument or some technical skills? Or NLP or some Business related “soft skills”? Check out Udemy via the link below, they have thousands of courses and there is good chance that what you are looking for is available. Nearly all the courses are REALLY affordable!
The lowest price most of the time is EUR 12.99, so definitely do-able. Occasionally it goes even below that and I will mention it here when I find out. Check out the website at shor.by/GqCk And if you buy through that link, you also help the Dublin Event Guide! :-)

And this is it for another week! Have a great weekend and good new week.

Take care,

–Joerg (dublineventguide@gmail.com)
